Legendary rollercoaster triumphant return

Longstanding fairground ride triumphant return

One sounds like a genuine marketing campaign with potential, the other sounds like a dodgy poorly written local news website article.

(In before @rob666 mentions that 'they're all fairground rides')

1) Not like-for-like ;)
2) Enterprise is also not a roller coaster, it's a filler flat ride attraction - lets be honest, people don't flock to theme parks for the flat rides, it's the coasters that have the pull!
I was being sarcastic in my post but in the eyes of most of the public, they probably will see it as like-for-like replacement as it'll ride (theoretically) exactly the same but just have a few added thematic features.

But yeah you're right, filler attractions/flats etc probably aren't marketable if replaced like-for-like.

They made fairground rides into transformers for the retro squad. Pretty sure they are capable of marketing anything!
Just a social campaign tho, possibly not even a promoted one? That's on the 'very cheap' end of marketing investment (even with the cool animation they did).

When you're spending millions on advertising inventory you do so with a more compelling product.

I think the days of spending millions with TV adverts and posters are over. Much cheaper and easier to do it all online through social media

Replacing something as low cost as enterprise could just be considered maintainance really. Thet have form with the Chessington swing boat.

I can't think of any replacement other than like for like which cones close to hitting the same balance of thrill and height restriction.
Samurai - it’s a massive thrill ride and has been for 25 years now! I can’t compare it to any other top scan as I’ve never seen another, or been on another. It’s a fairground model I believe. I remember when it moved to to Thorpe some people complained about how it’s settings had been toned down from when it was at Chessington.

Probably far more effective too!
Well, do you remember any of Alton Towers adverts that were made in the last 3-4 years vividly? The newer ones make you go to the park, but they're not as memorable as the older adverts they used to make, like The Smilers, Oblivions, Airs, any of the Hotels, etc.

Anyway, back on Enterprise. Sorry for going off-topic.

Not sure what you mean? I was saying I can't think of a different ride type to take the enterprise gap that is a a similar thrill and height restriction. Samurai is 1.4m, no use to the 0.9m kids that now have even less to do at Towers. It's no use as a replacement.

I was talking about comparing rides in general, I didn’t mean to put the impression across that a top scan could go in it’s place.

Not so sure - there was a multimillion £ campaign for Wickerman wasn't there?
I think for the most part, massive investments like the rollercoasters will likely get television advertising to help launch it (will be interesting to see if the Nemesis retrack will get a new TV ad or not!), whereas flat rides and things of that nature will probably just be social media advertising.

And this highlights another problem with the removal of Enterprise and it's impact on Towers overall ride lineup. Although I'd feel sick as dog riding it multiple times to meet the 1 adult to 1 chiled rule, there was a time when there was nothing to do in X Sector at all for my kids other than Enterprise. All 3 enjoyed it at a time when all 3 had grown out of Cbeebies land. For me and the other half, we had to drag the kids down a steep slope to take it in turns to ride The Smiler and Oblivion with the only consolation for the kids having to walk back up that steep incline being that I'd smash out a few rides on Enterprise with them whilst they waited.

Towers has been a difficult park to navigate for families with varying age kids in toe pretty much since 2016 as it is. The removal of Enterprise will make the problem even worse. I've only ever encountered this probablem at Thorpe and Alton. There's not even many rides you can enjoy as a whole family group any more.

I'd love it if they could fit a smaller model of the gyro swing on this plot in the future.

Think it would fit really nicely in the area and also probably be the most popular flat ride the park has had since peak Ripsaw days.

Make it happen Towers.
