Credit: Alton Towers the new doll house and setting looks fantastic! I’m sorry I don’t know how to put the spoiler tag on, feel free. But wanted to discuss for people who can’t go.

I like the new lighting in there to replica natural daylight! Shame there no moving portraits in there tho

Sorry, double post but not sure if this CATCF reference has been posted yet!

The 'pre-show' video on TPG's coverage looks phenomenal.

Anyone who is a fan of prearranged photo routines will be glad to know the photo is taken at the same point in the ride as it always has

Theme Park Guide's review of TCAAM.
From the second we walked into the mansion we were amazed at the theming and new props added to the existing ride.
The rooms look the same when you walk in but with new props and yes the door knocker is still on the front door.
The old Emily’s doll house has been given a huge makeover including new effects such as projection mapping and uv light activated effects.
Inside the ride you’re in Emily’s doll house where you encounter a duck from the flume. Lots of cool effects including a refurbished trummel. Which when you enter it looks like a large version of the fireplace from the pre show.
We won’t go into too much detail of the ride but the finale of the ride is something to keep an eye out for.
Our favourite effect from the ride is where you disappear in a mirror scene. Another duel car runs along side you but is empty with a doll sat in the front car.
An amazing refurb of Duel! We can’t wait to ride it over and over again.

Refurb of Duel, they've done the right thing by the sounds of it

Was it scary or any good jump scenes? Also any amazing effects of projecting mapping like AT media reported? Was the grand hall like in the pre video posted on here?

Just came off the ride, been avoiding spoilers as much as possible the last few days after following this topic over the closed season. I'm genuinely really impressed, at the end of the day this was always going to be a reskin of Duel on a relatively modest budget, but what they have done on that budget is, in my opinion, very impressive. The pre show with Emily's new doll house is wonderful and the best use of projections I've seen in a Merlin park, all of the easter eggs in the queue and ride are great touches and will definitely appease us geeks. The ride itself, whilst nothing groundbreaking, is rich in detail and a great mix of screens/physical themeing and moving parts utilising what was already a brilliant ride system. The rework of the Trommel is cool. All in all, its a brilliant dark ride which is much needed both at Alton and in the UK.

I was dubious about the ride given Merlin's track record with dark rides but John Burton and Merlin Magic Making have done a fantastic job, I'd say that (whilst quite a low bar) this is the best dark ride in the country along with Hex. Very happy.

Incoming review: HUGE SPOILERS

just ridden it. The outside/exterior is fantastic!! The indoor queue hasn't changed a whole lot outside of the dolls house and lighting. Much darker though. Now, onto the ride. I must say... I'm a bit disappointed... the poltergeistroom is still there and is integrated well! The grand Hall IMO, really was a downgrade. No flying drmons or moving props 😭, just a projection of Emily alton at the end of the room, then, The trommel section. ITS WORKING!!! No face for it thought, just a black Wall. Then the giant's lair, just a room in darkness and a static giant hand above you before the hall of spider. Thankfully, the hall of sliders is a really good upgrade, the giant spider is still there, along with a few new smaller spiders that jump out at you. The ghost corridor was okay, nice effect with the mvong car along side you, then jumpscared by a doll figure. The screaming heads scene is a bit bland, the head props are different, and only 2 of the heads are there. Now, the garden scene, mixed feelings, undertaker is gone, the hearse does nothing, no moving wheel and peppers ghost effect. Lunatic mechanic is replaced by, you guessed it, a doll... the grim reaper is replaced by a little girl I think, but column ghost is gone unfortunately, replaced by nothing... the final is nice, with weird looking toys put about, with a big prop of emily trying to grab you, though not in the gargoyles mouth. All in all, in not impressed, but still a nice dark ride. Maybe it's just me, but projection just don't do it for me over giant moving props.

First negative review I've seen really. Every other I've seen has been extremely positive!
