The Festival of Smoke & Mirrors... could be abbreviated to The Festival of S&M. Would probably get more visitors in!It's just another desperate attempt to pull the wool over the eyes of guests, to make them believe that they're visiting a functioning theme park.

Surely the festival of S&M would involve riding the Smiler all day, you’d be covered in bruises at the end of it.

Glad to see they found the missing 'L' from Ga actica! There are others dotted around the park, they spell out the word "THRILLS" as in Festival of Thrills, like in the logo

Alton Towers Resort has appointed brand building marcomms specialist agency Smoking Gun on a long-term project.
Smoking Gun has been appointed to deliver integrated marketing communications around the launch of two attractions, working closely with other agency partners and the Alton Towers Resort marketing team.
The agency is specifically tasked with managing relationships with a range of stakeholder groups, from enthusiasts to families, thrillseekers to staycationers. The programme of activity will maintain audience engagement during the redevelopment of some key attractions before activating relaunch campaigns across owned and earned channels, including for the legendary Nemesis.
Sian Wilson, Alton Towers’ Head of PR, said: “What started off as a one-off strategic planning project has quickly blossomed into a much wider partnership. We were very clear on what we needed from our agency partner to help support us through arguably the busiest couple of years in the Resort’s history. The Smoking Gun team ticks all the boxes, marrying expertise with commercial nous and a genuine knowledge and passion for the Resort.
Already the agency has shown fantastic integration with other partners and has delivered outstanding results on some potentially tricky announcements.”
Smoking Gun’s Managing Director, Rick Guttridge, said: “Alton Towers is a world famous brand and a delight to add to our roster. This brief plays to our strengths of holistic big picture thinking and creative execution. The fact I've regained some serious ‘cool dad’ points from my kids is also an added bonus!”
Smoking Gun also works with organisations including Interflora, Eurocamp, Becky Adlington Swim Stars, the NHS and Old J rum.

Just seen this, it refers that the Pr company have been appointed to the relaunch of two attractions. One clearly is nemesis, not sure what the other one would be.
I’d be ruling out that it was Alton Manor as is it a relaunch? Also the statement from the Alton towers mentions that it started with a one off project which I assume is Alton manor. So 3 projects total.

That’s exactly why you do an event when it’s not busy, to try and attract more people.Just thinking, why have they done this event now rather than the previous two weeks when it was half term and would have been busier?
(also I assume you mean Easter holidays not half term).

Smoking Gun have been involved in both Alton Manor and Nemesis's closure announcement so far. They usually stick with a PR company for a few years at least, so I'd expect them to be doing a few more bits in future.Just seen this, it refers that the Pr company have been appointed to the relaunch of two attractions. Can imagine that with all those enthusiasts moaning so much on that platform about the state of the park that I bet even the platform won't take all that wibble and BS and likely collapse sending everyone into the pit...would be a messed up but funny way to go.

Mr Pedant here, again.Just thinking, why have they done this event now rather than the previous two weeks when it was half term and would have been busier?
Easter is not half term, it is the end of term.

Don't worry @rob666 it niggles me too when people get this wrongMr Pedant here, again.
Easter is not half term, it is the end of term.

Sorry, end of term then
Anyway I was just thinking, if it was on during this holiday period they could make it more of an event because they know they will be getting the custom. The extra money from gate numbers could contribute to more of an effort.
Doing it now to encourage people to visit I understand but numbers will still be limited regardless as kids are now back in school.
Just my 2p anyway!

But if they know they will get the custom anyway there is no need to spend the extra money. The money is being spent to try and attract more people to visit in the quieter weeks.Sorry, end of term then

That is exactly the purpose of these events, all of them - to encourage visitors at times of year when they would otherwise not have come. That was the original purpose of Scarefest, to boost visitor numbers in the final weeks of the season. But if they know they will get the custom anyway there is no need to spend the extra money. The money is being spent to try and attract more people to visit in the quieter weeks.
It's a pity they've shot themselves in the foot here and put on an event that's so terrible it will likely have the effect of deterring visitors until it's finally over.

Except only a few people on this forum and Shawn think its terrible, someone who doesn't follow fan sites or fan vloggers will only have the information the park put out.
