When were you last scared on a ride ?

Probably when I went on Pendulum at Dreamland in Autumn 2018. The ride felt slightly unsafe to me, probably due to my slim physique.

When I was In juniors in the late 80’s we had a school trip to Drayton Manor and I was just tall enough for the Python rollercoaster. When we were about it do the loop I felt the harness click out a bit and I panicked that I was gonna fall out so I hold on tight. That was my 1st ever looping coaster.

Went to Florida again with my now wife and my parents. My mum hates rollercoasters and anything that spins.
I told her to join us on the mummy coaster as I said it don’t go upside down or fast. When it started and it went thought the scenes she loved that but when it picked up speed she just hold on tight and closed her eyes. Even 14 years later she’s not forgiven me.

I've just found some (proper printed) photographs of a group of us doing the SCAD tower on South Pier from 2002 or 2003.

Those 'rides' are ridiculous. It's not even a ride really, is it. It's like stuntman work. That was actually more petrifying that sky diving.

I'd never do that now. Ever.

I’ve always been scared to get on Stealth. I’m a bit of a wimp when it comes to launches, have always found Rita a bit of a challenge!

However this year I’ve done some gentler launches, Icon and the ones at Energylandia and learnt to enjoy the sensation.

My teenage boy has always wound me up about Stealth telling me it’s 10x worse than Rita and that I’d never cope with it and that it would “obliterate” me, right little wind up merchant.

Anyway, last week I finally did it! I convinced myself that it was worth enduring the launch because I knew I’d love the drop.

Stealth conquered!! Yay!!

Wasn’t anyway near as bad as I thought. Did scream my head off for the entire launch though.

Congrats for conquering Stealth! I rode it for the first time last year and also didn't find it as bad as I feared. Was the first Intamin Accelerator I've done as I'm yet to brave Rita. (I'll hopefully change that at Scarefest this year).

Anything on cables freaks me out. Tracks are fine, cables are not! Every time I go to Pleasure Beach the only ride I avoid and refuse to ride is Flying Machines.... they are truly terrifying.
Too long ago I spent a couple of years working at Kings Dominion. I could ride DropZone, Hypersonic, Volcano with no issues. I had The Flying Eagles in my area - I hated it. The most truly terrifying ride on park.

Recently somewhat terrified by both Insane and Ikaros at Gröna Lund; the fact they are both Intamin's overlooking water may or may not have had something to do with it!

This… but chains! Ug Swinger scared me more than Oblivion ever has.

Noticed on my last visit where the cables cross there’s plastic sheaths to stop them rubbing together. However, on a few they have worn through the plastic rendering them useless.

Oblivion in March this year. I hate heights and always avoided it as my youngest was too small. He reached the minimum height this year and wanted me to go on with him, his dad and my older daughter. Poor lad operating the ride had to come over and reassure me I would be ok (meanwhile my 12 year old was absolutely fine).
I’ll on on most things but the straight drop just freaks me out

This isn’t so much about myself being scared on a ride but certainly as a parent I do feel nervous sometimes for my kids riding a ride especially if they have only just scraped in over the height restriction. My daughter often jokes about me constantly trying to push her restraint down an extra click on rides that invert. Of course I know rationally that if they meet the height restriction they will be perfectly safe but I can’t help doing it. When we were riding Sik I found myself actually reaching across and holding on to her arm during the five rolls at the end. Anyone else find themselves doing this with their kids?

I know exactly what you mean! I also find it takes some of my enjoyment of the ride away as I am worrying about them and if he is enjoying it. Hopefully as he gets older, it will get better as I will know what he really likes/ dislikes rather than him just trying to make me happy! (I do tell him he doesn’t have to go on them!)

He doesn’t seem to like rough rides but exploring new theme parks is tricky as I don’t know what they do / how rough they are etc.
