Like the colour or not it's going to be the best looking ride in the park and by some way
The thing is, it probably will. But could easily suffer the same fate as wicker man! Aging theming and neglect of effects. Let’s hope things change after this but looking at the presentation of certain attractions in the park it makes it hard for me to have any confidence in this.

Yeah this has always been a Merlin problem. Th13teen, The Smiler, Wicker Man, all looked great for a season or two then left to rot a slow death with no maintenance in sight.

Hopefully something the 'new' Merlin can look at approaching better, maintenance programs to ensure rides and park presentation in general stays of a high standard.

Nemesis risks the same fate unless attitudes change. I'm sure it will look amazing in 2024 regardless.

Interestingly with WM, word is (not verified) it will be having the fire back next season. Maybe a departure from the old philosophy of neglect hopefully?

Interested to see how Forbidden Valley 2.0 turns out. The nostalgic side of me is sad to see post-apocalyptic junkyard theme departing, but Merlin have done some really nice jobs with theming as of late, so retaining some optimism.

As someone mentioned previously, gloss black buildings and track alongside an overgrown rocky pit could be quite jarring, but I do think the combination of sci-fi architecture and wild, natural elements can work quite well (Pandora at animal kingdom is a prime example of this). If this theme of the Phalanx setting up shop in what was previously the dystopian Forbidden Valley is executed in a detailed and considered way, I think it could be excellent. The juxtaposition of the rocky wasteland with modern black military structures could be something quite original and rich in story, or it could end up looking lazy and confused. I just hope the budget is there for it to be done properly.

I also wonder if we will see Blade and other theming elements around the area brought in line with this new look.
I've said this before but if FV is getting the secret military theme which is more of less just another X-Sector then I wonder if they are aware of this and that this could mean a change for X-Sector?

Let's face it, once FV is (hopefully) all looking good for next year then I suspect either X-Sector or Dark Forest is next for attention though I would suspect the former as with two similar themes on the park, even they know that they'll need to tweak things about ad X-Sector is overdue with a major upgrade in which if you not include the Retrosquad attractions and Submission's removal, X-Sector hasn't seen anything to it since Smiler opened so we could see something happening there if they want to try to not make it too similar to Phalanx run FV in which if FV could be considered a 'crapstack world' setting if you follow tropes then maybe new X-Sector could be a more of a 'Crapsaccharine world' which means a world that looks all nice but beneath the surface is hiding dark secrets which you could argue Oblivion and Smiler are like that but anyway I'm getting off topic here.

But to get on the topic of FV and Nemesis, yes, I don't honestly mind the new look as long as they have a little more variety to the theme but it does leave X-Sector in an awkward position with roughly a similar theme.

Off topic I know (sorry!) but I wouldn't be surprised if the issue with the fire requires investigation and/or replacement of parts and that can only be done with full access to Big Bob - ie when the coaster is closed. So a decision was probably made to leave it until the season is over rather than having the ride closed for a few days.

They'll look great with some tarts mobile no. on them, or holes punched through them.

On a serious note, nice to see some detail added.
Would have to be one seriously tall tart to reach as the painted bits look taller than head height!

But I know what you mean. I'll give it until July next year (after school trip season) and we'll see the first graffiti on the new station and theming :(😡

I mean you could say it has some resemblance of “X Sector theme” you could also say those tentacles over the themed gun and station in FV resembles the twisted trees/veins in the “The Dark forest” In my opinion I believe its a very different concept & theme and to be honest who cares if it’s done well? The older areas of the park will follow suit and be re-themed in the near future I’m sure.

I wonder if we’re find out what “speak the truth” all about soon?

I have a feeling that Merlin know just how precious this ride is to not just enthusiasts, but to everyone, so I feel like they will take care with any/all alterations.

I think it's fair to say that we would all want the red river back, but it seems unlikely. A suitable replacement would be some industrial misters dotted about the place with some ultra-bright red flood lights - maybe even occasionally strobing? I'd also love to see some sound effects around the ride - like a monster screech every now and then.

That'd be beautiful, and considering they recently put permanent haze machines in the queue for Curse, it's definitely something they're capable of doing. One does wonder if that was perhaps to test the effect before a more expansive addition for Nemesis?

Just looking at the original opening (taken from an excellent set of photos by Euro Theme Park Archive) shows us just how cool it could look!

This colour scheme was really quite amazing!
