It’s lost its pace, and the mix sounds muddy towards the end…

Personally I’d rather they have added something to the soundtrack than mess with what was there.

See Tron at MK, as someone who loves the Tron legacy soundtrack the “almost”
soundtrack of the ride is just painful.

Hopefully this isn’t the same

But hey ho, all being well the ride will be good.

I actually agree. I think an extended edition of the original would work very well. Keeping what people loved, but adding more to it for the new version of the ride.
 
Worth remembering that The Smiler‘s area loop is 45 minutes long, with different variations of a multiple recurring melodies. I’m not sure of the numbers but Wicker Man’s may be even longer and has plenty of long, atmospheric stretches surrounding the recurring main theme. If you can’t find something to appreciate in the full thing, fair enough, but this is a tiny snippet. Most of IMAScores work with Towers has been great, their most recent collaboration was excellent.

I adore the original music, but it was a product of its time. It was always going to get an update as part of this project. Thanks to Graham Smart the original soundtrack is readily available in high quality, at a reasonable price, it isn’t lost media.

Anyways, love how the Phalanx continue to be the most useless specialist military force in the world, bless them.
 
Pretty sure they lost the recording of the original back in the early 2000’s. I doubt they had a higher quality version to mix.

It’s too short a section to decide really, plus it’s picked for marketing (When the Smiler game came out they sampled the ride music but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t the main part of the theme). That said they absolutely butchered Vampires theme music so they have form in taking good theme music and making it naff (though that wasn’t IMA score).

This colour scheme really was something else. Possibly the most original paint job a roller coaster has ever had. The new one is growing on me but this thing just looked insane back in 1994.

I like the new video, I think a change in soundtrack was pretty inevitable so a rework of the original is a nice touch.
 
Got to say that video was really quite epic, especially the ending with the eye and a sneak preview of the new soundtrack! Almost gave me Piraten in Batavia announcement video VIBES.

Even from that short clip of the audio, it is clear that it is based on and very similar to the original. To me that is very good news!
 
Fantastic video, Towers marketing at it's best. The way everything links together is great - the last day 2023, Sub Terra opening ceremony - all very well thought out.

I don't think the Phalanx spokesman is dead. Maybe he'll end up like the long-haired scientist in Independence Day (when the alien wakes up on the operating table) - a human voice for Nemesis to communicate with us?

I remember those drone shots of Wicker Man testing and some people saying how slow it looked!
