[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

Expected new fencing but expected something more along the lines of Air’s or Smiler’s metal fencing rather than this off the shelf security fence. Seems like a little bit of that World of Jumanji cheapness seeping through, hoping the rest of it is so good that I don’t care.

I think those big search lights were very effective at the end of the season, but I guess something like that depends on whether they intend for longer opening hours.

Interesting in the construction update on TT's website (here) there are other pictures of the queueline with lots of corrugated ducting poking out of the ground. Almost guarantee this is for speakers but could they also be installing queueline lighting?

Also this is an intriguing picture - I'm guessing this is where the crane was situated - more ducting coming out of the ground. Could this be for the helicopter that has (if you believe the rumour) been purchased? Or some other theming element? Could the queueline be extended round this area? Or maybe just a huge floodlight! Or of course it could be more mundane and just a couple of new manhole covers where some underground cabling is terminated!

Some years ago (1994-early 2000's) there used to be a ducting in this area where you could drop the red dye into the blood rivers, as it got picked up by the pipe towards the stall-turn river, then mixed in with the lot in the pit. This, like the delivery pipes to the blood rivers got blocked over time. So when the waterfalls did re-open (2005-6 ish?) the dye had to be "introduced" at the bottom of the helix.

I have heard some people making theories/suggestions that Nemesis might (For some reason) get a small pre-show before the ride. Maybe the extended queue might have something to do with it?
It wouldn’t surprise me if they add TVs around the queue line, like sub-Terra for some kind of story/pre show.

Not sure where else you could put a proper pre-show in as there isn’t much room in the station or even after the merge point.

If the Smiler queue has taught us anything, it's that people love being imprisoned in imposing, high level black cages whilst they queue. After I've walked past tanks, crashed helicopters and armoured people pointing guns at me, I can't think of anything better to experience. I hope they don't forget to include the 'Danger of Death' signs for the full AT experience. Magical stuff.

With the Smiler queue though. While not great, I feel it does add to the overall theme and vibe they wanted to convey across to the public. It is an uncomfortable place to be in, exactly the sort of thing that goes hand in hand with the theme of the ride. It was clearly designed the way it was to give you that uncomfortable, enclosed and uneasy feeling.

As for this Nemesis stuff, not sure what is going on.

I wouldn’t mind betting that the increased fence height is down to safety post-Smiler. Wicker Man has very high queue fences in places where you get close to the track, so I’d imagine that Merlin may have wanted to apply the same logic to Nemesis.

Alternatively, it could be to fit in with whatever military-style vibe Merlin are going for with Nemesis V2.

The barbed wire fence was around the top of the lift and was placed a few feet back from the wooden queue line fencing to stop guests entering the ride area if they did jump the queue line fence. You can just about see to two fences in this screenshot from a POV.

The new fencing seems to act as both queue line and ride area fencing in one and runs both sides of the queue making it feel more enclosed.
