Smiler is way beyond jetwashing so I agree just giving it a jetwash won’t achieve anything. It needs a repaint. Same can be said with Galactica that’s in an even worse stateI suspect @rob666 wasn't saying not to bother, rather that jet washing alone isn't enough.

2023: General Discussion
Do you do professional cleaning of hard outdoor surfaces? That’s irrelevant because they should still look after the rides and clean them every winter. That’s like saying it’s pointless cleaning your car because it’ll be dirty again a few days later
Costs about £300 per day all in per person if you want my services.
I imagine a full ride would cost about ten thousand pounds a time, bit more expensive than a two quid jetwash of the car at the petrol station.
After cleaning, it needs a general biocide or algaecide treatment, cheap and effective, that lasts for about six months.
Algon my favourite brand, but sodium hypochlorite solution would be nearly as effective.
I think I post this about twice a year...closed season is in full swing once more.
Happy new year all...someone set up the 2024 topic!

On this, it probably works best if we keep this one open for another week until the end of the current open festive open period, which is basically the tail end of the 2023 seasons.Happy new year all...someone set up the 2024 topic!
Most 2024 related topics already have dedicated threads already. So unless the park drops some remarkable new info, we're probably safe wrapping up the extended 2023 open period in here.

Alton Towers Gold passes have had a £10 price increase taking them to £139, Silver remains at the same price of £99.
Can’t see any changes made to the perks, although Spa discounts are still advertised

Job openings have gone up today for full time permanent roles for a gardener, ground worker and arborist.
Now of course they could have been unfortunate and lost 3 existing staff members at once, or the perhaps they are expanding the existing team? Let’s hope so as the gardens could really do with some attention.

That’s still not a huge sum, only about £13 an hour so for a specialist it’s still only Ok.£27k to do gardening in the beautiful Towers gardens? Niceee

Yeah, but be fair - you do get a discount on Lego.

I was looking at it from a point of view of just spending your days in the towers gardens tidying the place up it’d be a nice job to do. Certainly one of the least stressful jobs you could do at Towers. Would hate the pressure of a thousand people queuing for a ride and you have to keep their wait as short as possibleThat’s still not a huge sum, only about £13 an hour so for a specialist it’s still only Ok.

It was just the gardens would be hard enough, but assume this is the entire estate. You’d need 10-20 gardeners surely?
(Although explains its current state)
Oh it would be a hard job I agree but the pressure isn’t there the same as a ride operator for exampleIt was just the gardens would be hard enough, but assume this is the entire estate. You’d need 10-20 gardeners surely?

If you're in a small team and you're looking after listed grounds, I'd say there would certainly be pressure - albeit a different kind of pressure, but pressure nonetheless.
Anyway - I seem to recall there being a minimal amount of people hired specifically for the gardens nowadays; I'm unsure whether that's an entire new team, but I wouldn't rule it out.
