Thorpe Park: General Discussion
They claim one those tweaks was Mack Rides having changed the ride to use winter wheels. Obviously winter wheels would be Thorpe park’s responsibility to install when needed.

Rides close and reopen again all of the time, and it can be for a plethora of reasons, which are hardly ever officially explained.
It could be high winds, up at 236ft; it could be a customer has evacuated themselves; it could be that the swans are back and having a splash in the trough. There's also a difference in the ride being closed, and the queue for the ride being closed. If the queue for the ride is closed, but hasn't been evacuated, then it's expected that the pause in operation will be short and temporary. If the queue has been evacuated, then something requires more attention and it could take a while longer to reopen.
Given that the park is open until 9pm, I would expect it to reopen.

It's just poor. As predicted, they got it open and operating fine for the press event - then the next day when the regular plebs want to ride - it's closed. There's no testing underway whatsoever and hasn't been for several hours now.
Back to F1 again. They've changed the tyres to go faster but they only last 10 laps 
It's obviously capable of running, but I wonder what extra "risk" there is if it's down for a while as the temp drops in the evening...

Feel for a work colleague who is there at the park today and they wanted to go on Hyperia. They were asking me questions about if it was worth getting on Hyperia first or to do it later. They were hoping the queues wouldn't be too long but looking at the queue times today it's been busy!
I'm keeping half an eye out as well as I am thinking of booking the day off work and going on the Thursday 17th October, but with the park being closed on the Mon-Tues-Wed that week will the Thursday be super busy?

Having been forced to watch the morning mess of dumping water from the dummies over time, (by being outvoted, why would you queue for an hour for a closed coaster?!?), I must say it is the most convoluted warm up I have ever witnessed.
Very gradual, very slow through the slow bits, water trunks emptied out two at a time...
The difference between very fast and very slow spots on this ride is really noticeable, the fact it is valleying out a lot doesn't really surprise me at all.

I would say yes based on today. Any day with late opening seems likely to be busy and the current poor availability will only exacerbate that.
Technically next week is probably going to be the last "quiet" week of the year as Mon-Thur have short opening hours (which obviously means no night rides) but the weather is currently forecast to be rather poor which probably won't pair well with Hyperias current reliability.
Yeah, we went 20th September and had a great day (first time riding Hyperia and had a front row seat for it!) so got the bug and wanted to see if we could slip in a cheeky Hyperia night ride and a first time experience on Fright Night.

I think that Thursday 17th October is the only date that Merlin Discovery Pass holders are able to visit during Fright Nights, so it might be a little busy.
(The situation is better for Alton Towers, as Discovery pass holders can visit Scarefest any day from Monday 14th to Thursday 17th - although the downside is that AT will only be open until 8 p.m. on those dates, versus 9 p.m. for Thorpe Park)

I'm assuming that the scare mazes won't be open next week (even during the daytime hours), but I might be wrong?
Thanks for all the intel, this is really helpful. I am going to Alton Towers Scarefest on Friday 11th October with my Dad but I am not opposed to going back again a week later. We still have time to decide which would be best or if we just go 'stuff it' and go regardless.
We queued for 65 minutes for Hyperia on the September day and I would say average queue time was 20-30 minutes per ride for a 10-5 time, we did 15 rides in total thanks to a mad dash in the last hour and getting a couple of quick rides on Saw & Stealth at the end.
The weather didn't help as we had to wait around lunch for thunderstorms to pass which lost us 15-20 minutes in Stealth queue so that's the sort of "busy" level we are gauging.

But really?? I'd imagine the gears are fixed, and any change would require non-trivial software/hardware changes. But at least it's (hopefully) back up and running. Interesting to see the FP sales during the last hour of FNs

Is this following the stall on Wednesday, or the work last week?
That, combined with some kind of winter wheels as suggested by that previous Twitter post, could well be enough to get the issue mitigated. Stalling in that area is evidently a problem to keep in mind, however, seeing as this has now happened twice.
