I think some people are being very harsh. Not every catering company is going to have access to the high quality ingredients that KFC obviously use. Realistically, every time KFC fry a chicken they're paying homage to the late Colonel Sanders. KFC would only use the finest ingredients reared with the highest welfare standards, because they've got to respect the legacy of Colonel Sander's unrelenting pursuit of perfection. Even great chefs like Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver would struggle to meet these exacting standards. I doubt Alton Towers will ever again be able to meet the great pinnacle of a KFC bucket.

I've just had a email from towers breaks to inform me that they are no longer open as a theme park on Thursday 6th November ( as previously allowed to pre book via the pre book portal ) . We had booked to stay the 6th evening ready for the fireworks on the 7th. It's annoying as means one less day in the park on the 6th yet it's not the end of the world.
Guess this is why it's taking so long for them to confirm the rest of the seasons opening hours

Dates and times now for the whole season are up, showing that scarefest is running earlier than last year and fireworks are only on the Saturday and Sunday not 3 days
Also shows no 8pm scarefest closures, all as 9pm

I'm fairly sure opening hours were modified as the year went on last year.

Gold passes have 7,8,9 blanked out too...Tickets are still on sale for Fri 7th Nov, so either the fireworks dates on the calendar are wrong and it will be 3 days, or the tickets should have been pulled from sale.

Legoland used to do this, so it's not unheard of in Merlinhas the park ever closed between scarefest and fireworks before? That seems... odd.

Mid week closed days really conflict me. On one hand is it sensible to open for 6 hours for 1000 people when that budget of hours could be used elsewhere (Towers get an operating budget so they know how many hours they have to spend unless it gets cut mid-season).
On the other hand it’s not like we see longer opening hours during busy periods to balance things out.
Basically I would take the closed days if there was evidence that budget was being spent on peak days, something that has not as yet been apparent.

Two days only of fireworks is absolutely appalling.

I wonder if this is accurate, the accommodation is open Friday, the gold passes have a blackout on the Friday as well.
I wouldn’t be surprised don’t get me wrong but it doesn’t seem consistent across all the platforms.

Looks like Oktoberfest has been canned as well, with Scarefest now starting the last weekend of September.

And reverting to the weekend 9pm and midweek 4pm non scarefest days for two weeks before heading into 2 and bit weeks of 9pms. Last year they did three straight weeks of scarefest.

So overall it’s a mixed bag.
Positives:
- 7pm closures in August
- Midweek Oct closures that were showing last week appear to have disappeared.
- Scarefest has an extra weekend added and all dates are back to being 9pm closes.
Negatives:
- Oktoberfest looks to be gone (personally gutted about that one)
- Closed dates between Scarefest and Fireworks
- Fireworks dropped down from 3 days to 2
