Future Flat Ride Speculation

Is anyone wanting it?

Saying it might happen isn’t saying you want it to happen, I can say Reform UK might win more seats at the next election but I certainly don’t want that to happen! people are just reflecting on the fact Chessington are removing a ride, stating it is going into storage but as yet have not indicated where it is going so might Merlin be considering moving it 🤷‍♂️

It’s also a possibility they’re keeping it in storage for future use at Chessington.

Not a bad idea honestly as wee military vehicles and the idea also as riding in little baby Nemesis creatures is not only a funny idea to picture but could work as something as a sequel to Sub Terra which explains what happened to the baby Nemesis creatures that hatched and got away...sounds so bloody stupid that Merlin would do it regardless.

I think it’s cute I like it or cars shaped as cracked eggs

To be honest a dodgems would need much theming
They are theme park staples and people take them as they are.

Wouldn’t be a bad idea in all honesty.
I'd like to say it's going over to Walliams but I think they'll give the wider area a retheme soon.

I can imagine that Merlin are likely exploring all sorts of options for the flat rides and that could include Towers as well as Chessington, Thorpe and Legoland.

I'm hoping they stay at Chessington but other than a couple of odd sites, it's unlikely they'll fit both unless they give something else the chop which they haven't appear to have done so far.

Most likely, they'll either stay at Chessington, go to separate parks or go to Towers collectively.

Blackpool have a spare set handy under the Rev.
A nice swap deal on the horizon 🤔

Chessington gets Skyforce ✈️ and Blackpool get Tuk Tuk Turmoil 🛺

In all seriousness, Chessington needs capacity monsters for their future flats, not Sky Flys 🤣

I don't believe either of these rides are going to Alton. The speculation is only there because Alton need flat rides and these 2 are going spare, if it wasn't for that there would be no discussion at all.

I like to think that Alton has decided adding rides is only worth it if they stand out and give reason to visit the park. Generic rides designed to fill gaps might be a thing of the past judging by the way they have gone about there business. I'm not saying these are world class but nemesis reborn, hex refurbishment, duel changed to curse, NST reopening all seem to be a little bit more than just another theme park ride and arguably all stand out as a reason to visit.

Toxicator looks like it is going the same way rather than just opening any old flat ride. The sky ride also seems to have not just been repaired but stations refurbished at the same time. Maybe after all the negativity around the retro squad they have changed direction. The Postman pat replacement also seems like it will be a showpiece attraction for cbeebies even if the layout doesn't do much.

This leads me to believe we won't just see any old ride dumped in the park and they are being careful at what they add. However if they was to look at adding them I think the monkey swinger ride could possible work in dark forest with some heavy theming. The only area where a dodgems could fit with the theme to me would be next to spinball whizzer however I'm not sure if there would be the space. Treating the cars like pinballs bouncing against each other could be a fun theme to go with spinball.

There's a couple of extra floor markings near Toxicator, one in the pen as it goes up the hill opposite Blade and I can't remember if there was another nearby. Not sure if they're just from Toxicator or possibly something else happening.

If Toxicator is part of a 3 part HUSS deal, what could the other 2 flat rides be? I would be thinking a replacement ride to fit in the old Enterprise and Blade spots.

It’s interesting that the support footers for The Blade still remain! I’d like to see something come to this site soon, especially considering with Toxicator Forbidden Valley would of felt ‘complete’ but now with Blade gone we have a big gap right in the middle!

I’d quite like to see an Enterprise 2. There’s the perfect spot for one on X Sector…

I don't think Towers should be replacing all the flats like for like. Toxicator looks great but you've already got people saying they've just brought back Ripsaw. I'd like to see something completely new in X Sector.

I think there’s an appetite for a flat ride that isn’t a direct replacement of one we’ve already had. We’ve seen the complaints that Toxicator is just Ripsaw (which isn’t fully valid), but it does express an appetite for something that isn’t a spiritual successor.

We’ve not really seen anything ‘brand’ new since Wicker Man since 2018, the park has been modernising and updating what already existed on the lineup and I think it contributes to a sense that Alton Towers is stagnating, as needed as that investment has been.

I completely agree and disagree at the same time. There needs to be a balance between nostalgia and fresh.

This is why I don't think we necessarily need a new generation Enterprise or Breakdance for Towers.

A Pirate Ship, I think we should see one over at Munity Bay even if it's slightly smaller than Blade.

I guess the problem with traditional style flat rides is… they’re kinda all just a variation of spinning or swinging. Whatever is purchased someone’s gonna compare to what came before
We’ve not had either a Gyroswing or a Sombrero/Polyp-style ride at least in any significant capacity in recent years.

Not to mention other concepts like a shot tower or anything from the Zamperla catalogue. Loads of reliable options out there, we just don’t want them to go with some concept flat that will suffer loads of downtime.

Also other supporting attractions they could add such as the return of an ice show or circus that can absorb large crowds and could easily be outsourced and provided around peak season.
