Potential New Universal UK Park

I’ve seen someone on a Facebook page called ‘We want universal studios in Bedfordshire’ say something interesting, it was posted by Gavin Vaughan.

Apparently universal has changed some of the wording on this website yesterday under the Section 1 ‘What is the project’.

He said apparently it used to say

‘It will still be some time before any decisions are made whether or not to proceed with the project, however we want to share our proposal with local communities”.

He said this has now been deleted and after checking it seems like it has and it’s been reworded to say ‘Last year, Universal confirmed the purchase of an approximately 476-acre (192-hectare) parcel of land south of Bedford with the goal of exploring a potential new park and resort experience at this site.’

‘We have spent the last several months undertaking feasibility and due diligence work and discussing the project with our surrounding communities, local and national stakeholders.’

Can anyone check this is correct, it seems to be correct to me as they used to mention stakeholders etc.

They seem to have removed the bit about it being some time before a decision is made.

Edit - apparently this happened months ago, never mind 😂

The Financial Times are reporting that an announcement green lighting the Bedford project could be made by the end of the month.
Government sources said talks with Comcast were “ongoing and nothing is agreed”, but people close to the discussions said it was hoped that an announcement would be made this month.
Nothing is officially confirmed, until it is officially confirmed, and the article doesn't offer any further updates or news. Some positive news for a Monday morning though.

For anyone who's into football, that reads like the David Ornstein confirmation of your team being about to sign a player.

Exciting times.

It feels like odd timing for an announcement, you would think Universal would wait until all the Epic Universe hype dies down.

Agree. Although perhaps somewhat out of their hands, be it fear of leaks, government requirement or some other unknown reason.

Epic is more of an ongoing campaign too presently whereas confirming Universal UK will be a somewhat transient announcement with the details likely to follow later.

I dunno, I’m not expecting a massive glitz and glam announcement.

Maybe it’ll literally just be changing the website, a gov announcement that the press pick up.

Then the big thing where they make a song and dance would be the shovels in the ground thing months down the line

This is most likely, I'd expect a confirmation with details at a later date. I would assume they are well down the line working on plans for the park so I don't think the planning application will be far of especially as they will want to get cracking. There will be lots to talk about when it's published
