Universal GB - Archived Pre Announcement Discussion

Epic was originally announced, before being put on hold due to the pandemic, before Universal Beijing opened in 2021.

Probably a formal announcement, a general plan, and some nice words from Universal execs and backing from local and national government.

Still very exciting to hear things are progressing.

No-one can announce planning permission for a project where no planning application has yet been submitted.
Yeah, I was more thinking similar to how AT announced they were applying for planning permission for the CBeebies coaster, if they submitted it we would know, so they will want to announce something before they submit planning permission (to get ahead of the news)

If anyone’s source is either of the big Universal UK Twitter accounts, honestly they’ve been predicting stuff for months, I wouldn’t hang your hat on it.
I’d argue the news article from the Financial Times suggesting that a deal could be agreed this month gives the current rumours slightly more clout.

The FT does not just spout unfounded speculation, and they are generally reliable for political intel.

While it's nice to have people stating there will be some sort of announcement tomorrow, please keep discussion to the actual topic of Universal. We don't need post after post of "who/how do you know?". If they choose to reveal that information, it's up to them. It's up to you as a reader whether you choose to believe that information or not.

That said, whilst such posts are not against our member expectations - I would politely suggest to those posters that you can put much greater credence on your post by including how you know such information if you're able to. It helps the thread run much better and prevents such questions muddying discussion. Thanks :)

If there is an announcement it best include concept art or we riot.

Oh 100%, I’ve no doubt that article is true and I’ve no doubt something will be announced soon.

What I’m getting at is clout chasing twitter accounts taking information from that reliable article and exaggerating it to make people believe something is literally happening tomorrow.

None of that is to say that anything which has been said in this thread isn’t true by the way as I wouldn’t know, just a word of warning as to those accounts as they’ve been making these predictions previously.

whatever happens its all getting excited! It would be nice to get some concept art but I doubt we will get much other than a deal has been struck!

Daily Mirror front cover seems to suggest this will be a government-led announcement.

I wonder if that's new concept art, if so, exciting times!

From what I've noticed in the concept art, there appears to be WaterWorld, Jurassic Park/World and Minions Land all in that concept art. All attractions present within the Beijing park, it might be just conceptual however, but then again Epic's concept art was fairly accurate to what got built.

Not been able to identify the coaster yet though!

If there is a 10:30 press embargo as others have said, am I right in thinking that we could have a flurry of articles released in 6 minutes’ time?
