Phantasialand: General Discussion

Phantasialand promptly replied and it's generally good news:

We would likely be staying in said suite so in a roundabout way it's resolved itself. Seems the only ride we'd have to queue for is FLY, hopefully it won't be too busy as suggested and we can try and time it accordingly. Or if we don't stay there then i'll just have to buy them separately, it is what it is for this park.

I believe FLY is the ride with lockers where you cannot take phones etc. Am i right in remembering that the locker point is close to boarding? My son would be without his communication device and ear defenders at that point which would make it particularly challenging but if it's only a few minutes then again that's probably doable once if he can see the attraction. I'm assuming a device zipped up in a pocket isn't an option or attached to you in any other way? I wonder if my wife would be able to queue with us until boarding then take said items and meet us upon disembarking? I expect that's unlikely.

Oh and i also specified my sons conditions and level of autonomy and they said: Yes, your son can use all the attractions :D
Yes there's just a short queue after the lockers, just bear in mind that you have to go through a metal detector on the way. You can't have absolutely anything in your pockets.

The locker point is reasonably close to boarding, it's about 5 minutes away if you get unlucky with batching / ops. After stowing your belongings, you go through a brief security check (metal detectors, potentially a pat-down/wand wave if a member of staff thinks something is off). You are unlikely to get away with anything metal in a zipped-up pocket, and very unlikely to get away with anything attached to your body. You might be able to have your wife take items to the unload (there is a service corridor from the load side of the lockers to the unload side), but I imagine your mileage with that will vary depending upon staff on the day.

To add to the above, the locker system is strictly enforced on FLY. Onload and offload are separate so there is no option to leave items other than in the lockers.

RE: Quick pass, it's not clear from the email above which rides they can be used on. Regular rooms in the hotels come with basic quick pass which is not valid on Taron, Black Mamba or Talocan. Not sure whether the suites give QP or QP+

Is there a chance it could be some sort of simulator experience as opposed to a 4D cinema? That’s technically still “4D”, but has more scope for “world’s firsts”, I feel.

Definitely possible. I struggle to imagine how you can make a modern 4D cinema a world first otherwise.
The old cinema, guest services and offices have all been completely torn out of the building; so either way they are starting anew with the building only.

Is this likely to open this year? My son loves a 4D cinema, especially if it's potentially going to have a movement aspect so might reschedule our Halloween plans if it's 2026.

It's Phantasialand it could open next week, or it could be 5 years away. Or something in between.

FLY seemed to be rumoured to open every year from 2018 onwards before it randomly opened in early September 2020.

Fair enough, think we will go ahead regardless then.

I have another rather specific pair of questions in regards to the food. My son is very intolerant in this regard and will only eat a few things in terms of cooked food.

1. Breakfast has to be bacon/sausage/bread. Now this is Germany so that should be fine but the Hotel Ling Bao seems to specify an Asian breakfast. Does anyone know if they have more typical options too? Is it a buffet or a la carte?

2. Lunch or dinner need to be pasta/pizza VIBES. Based on the website and themes everything seems to be Asian, Mexican or African, great for me but not so much for him, are there some options I’m missing? Do they have room service?

Think the Berlin restaurant does pasta bowls. I doubt you are after the fancier filled pasta that Uhrwerk does. All else fails I’m sure there must be a pizza place in Bruhl that would deliver to a hotel.

Ling Bao does do the standard breakfast offering in addition to Asian leftovers (otherwise I would not be staying there!).

Can double check anything as I’m at Ling Bao next month.

The food options are great on park. Really great choice and reasonable pricing too.

We stayed at Ling Bao and didn’t prebrook the hotel restaurant for the evening and they were fully booked when we got back and there weren’t any other options for food except some nuts/crisps at the bar. Thankfully I had bought some food with us and then we knew to eat in the park before leaving the next day.

Speaking of nuts, be warned that the food at the buffet is not labeled very well. I had a couple of plates of a lovely curry that didn't contain nuts.... but had been fried in peanut oil. Spent the rest of the night throwing up.
Was not a good start to the holiday.

Is the park fairly weather proof? I'm slightly nervous about going in late October but obviously the park specialises in running through the winter to the level that the log flume still operates and the coasters run in snow.

I gather the way it's built means wind isn't really an issue? Are there any published tolerances? Everything seems quite low and sheltered from what i've seen.

Similarly are the coasters still going to operate in heavy rain? It would be a shame to be unable to ride FLY and Taron due to heavy rain.

They do seem to have quite a few indoor attractions as well, there's the drop tower, 2 spinning coasters, the VR coaster, 3D Dark ride, a haunted house and mad house so i imagine outside of technical issues they would always be open and offer a break from bad weather?
