Chessington World of Adventures Resort

First Chessington trip of the year today and had a pretty good visit. Even Croc Drop was rotating!

The Trommel in Room on the Broom wasn't though and the projectors on Gruffalo lift hill and ending weren't working which was a bit rubbish only a few weeks after opening.

There's what i believe to be lots of new benches on the green outside Room on the Broom which was great considering the weather as meant a nice spot to sit.

Lots of construction going on obviously. Well, lots of boarded up areas, didn't seem to be anything actively happening. Went on Croc Drop and Mexicana is just a big pit with the facades still standing.

I don't know if my coaster tolerance has been wrecked by Avengers at DLP but Vampire seemed comparatively smooth with no head banging! Was back row both times but that's typically where we sit anyway.

Oh and ops were excellent, both times we did Vampire there were 2 trains going round simultaneously (i.e. no stacking), can't remember the last time i saw that happen! Croc Drop was the best i've seen too, they were opening the harnesses as you were rotating at the bottom and letting the next batch in, felt almost European ;)

lots of new benches
Congrats on earning your True TST Thoosie badge!

We like a new bench around here.

I think I missed the incident, unless this is a subtle reference to @Matt N's grandfather sneaking a knife into Thorpe Park?
I’d forgotten about this until you reminded me; thanks for giving me a good laugh!

Apologies for the off-topic aside, but I feel that I should retell this story for the avoidance of any doubt!

Basically, we were waiting in the security queue at Thorpe Park. Thinking he might be cheesed off at having to remove his belt and such, my dad reminded my grandad to prepare for security… but we were both shocked when my grandad came out with “I’m more worried about the f***ing knife in my pocket!”…

As it turned out, my grandfather had inadvertently left a small penknife in his pocket that he used for gardening and fishing. Ultimately, it somehow got through unnoticed…

So for clarity, this whole saga was merely an inadvertent mistake from my grandfather!

Comforting and reassuring to know that the metal detectors and the airport security checks work... 😂
