Pleasurewood Hills

Apologies if it’s general knowledge but I just noticed on RCDB that the new train for Wipeout this season isn’t actually brand new, it was transferred from another Loopings park - Avonturen Park in the Netherlands.

Apparently it was purchased for their Vekoma coaster, Balagos in 2021 but turned out to be too heavy for the track. So a new train has gone in there, with the older one moved to Pleasurewood.

RCDB pic of the train in operation in the Netherlands from 2022:

Yeah as usual nothing actually new gets to the hills.

The ride is finally open minus the nose car... watch this space

The start of spring bank weekend, the true start to peak season.

The smell of fresh paint on the Golden Mile is always overpowering...

Jolly Roger not sure what the other 2 are. Noticed in a vlog Jolly Roger having new queue installed
Drop tower has not operated now for 7 months or so, wasn't even open at the end of 2024 season, presumably a part on order and now some kind of wooden que line to disguise some of the metal que line.

The mini pirate ship has vanished from the park and the larger railway train also not yet been back in use

Ah I see at least almost all thrill rides are back just the Drop Tower left.

The orange parts on the side of the train looks a bit stupid, plus the whole train looks very uncomfortable and reminded me of the end of chairs you sit on in a church

Having done Boomerang at Wiener Prater same trains as Wipeout they are comfortable only real problem is when braking. Being a Lap Bar also means no Headbanging or Shoulder Pain

Since there is no airtime or negative gs on a Boomerang the lapbar doesn't really effect you.

Nothing sums up the scattergun approach of Looping Group’s investments than PWH’s “new” addition for 2025 being a used train for an existing rollercoaster that came in two phases because the zero car wasn’t ready at the start of the season.

It’s embarrassing beyond belief and now surely a 50-50 punt between Lightwater Valley and Pleasurewood being the next park to shut down.

Yep. Its utterly awful to see the state the park is in, all loopings do is paint a few things and then advertise it as new... locals are wise... they don't visit anymore, and no one is more local than me to the park...

It's so sad to see the demise loopings have done, taken countless things away that have never been replaced when it was already thin on the ground, joe public don't care about paint ups they just want NEW attractions and open up some of the vast SBNO areas....

I’m afraid it would not overly shock me if the park did close at this point. It lost money last season and the season before, if I’m not mistaken… so if this season doesn’t recover things, I wouldn’t be that stunned if it did go the way of Oakwood. I know they have the backing of Looping Group, but will Looping Group really want to keep a consistently loss-making park on board? From my visit last year, the park has some pretty considerable swathes of dereliction, and as a visitor who lives over 250 miles away, it is not a park I have any plans to return to any time soon unless they build something pretty substantial.

The fact that they’ve managed to refurbish and reopen Wipeout is a positive, however. And they have done the odd nice bit of refurbishment within the last decade.

Although Marble Madness still sound as though it’s gone AWOL despite having been closed for the entirety of 2024… are any locals aware of the situation with that one?

Cannonball express is a great little coaster but it's on its last legs and only has one train. The Egg-spress is the jankiest coaster I've ever been on and Marble Madness is meh.

I visited around five years ago and it wasn't in great condition then. The food/ beverage options are woeful and parts of the park looked abandoned even then.

Wipeout and them log flume are good but pretty old.
