Oakwood Discussion

Why is it Aspro's move? They'll strip the park at leisure and transport the rides to their new homes if they have any at the new parks closed season? They're leaving the UK market for theme parks, they won't be bothered about PR as not may will link the aquariums and castle to the owners of Oakwood. The current location of the rides is free storage on the balance sheet, plus if they remove the rides slowly they'll need less boots on the ground and can probably spread the costs over several months which will also help with the balance sheet.

Unless RLP has any confirmed funding that's enough to make it worth stripping what they want and moving quicker or can offer enough for the park as is, why would they be fussed?

It isn't odd when you remember it's just someone having some fun šŸ™‚
That's probably true šŸ˜‚

With Oakwood closed what on going costs have ASPRO got with the site at the moment? I'm not clued up. Obviously it's just sat there vacant so are there still business rates if they are not trading? Electricity etc?

I assume there's some on going costs so wondering if the assets currently there are worth sitting on to remove slowly to their other parks

The timing feels incredibly reactionary to the comments here last night, rather than mere coincidence. I feel like we may have rattled someone, or hurt their feelings.
Validly of the project.
Qualidly.
Must be a Welsh word.
Because FOIs to the local government are much to do with a companies financials. Amazing.
And completely not a drain on already stretched local resources.

Rereading and doing further checks...

My thoosie detective powers fade with age, but, I think the best shot is...

The Tory politician who first went to the bbc over the trespassing, he's been going fishing for future funding in the senned and local businesses.

Samuel Kurtz is as good a guess as any...shadow economic secretary to boot.

"We"...him and his group of cronies who might generate a few quid and votes out of it all.

Scratch any theme park hard enough and the right wing streak will bleed through.

I have seen several people in TikTok and Facebook comments (yes I know not the most reliable source, but still) saying they’ve driven past Oakwood and the lights leading up the driveway are all still switched on. One commenter even went on to say that the bulbs in the lamps have been changed to white bulbs. If this is the case, electricity is still on.

There’s also been (uncorroborated) footage of Megafobia being sent empty one evening, filmed by someone who was staying at Bluestone next door. Again, not the most reliable source, and no proof that the footage was actually filmed since the closure, but from what I’m hearing, there’s still a bit of life left in the park and I therefore assume that some bills are being paid.

We know 100% that the site is still staffed, and basic facilities such as toilets and microwaves have to be provided for employees. These things do cost money to run.
