Is that not irrelevant, though? **** value for money is **** value for money, no matter how much you earn.
In fact, I would say his comments are more telling of the fact he is still down-to-earth and knows the true value of money. Something that can sometimes and usually be lost by people who have a lot of it.

That's what I was trying to say in a clunky kind of way. Not a great piece of advertisement for the park.

What's the max wind speed for the Big One these days? Considering a visit tomorrow or Tuesday but won't bother if it's going to be closed.
 
Depends on the wind direction and the risks of gusting, but around 25mph "up there"...
It is often nice and calm at ground level, just to annoy dippy.

edit...Should be open if the wind is as forecast both days, Mon looks dryer.
Queues around the 45 mins mark, ish.

I was watching this earlier. Probably the best vlog I have seen on the behind the scenes tour of Valhalla, especially for geeks. It vlogs the ride in depth and you see it in far more detail in a behind the scenes perspective than many people have ever seen it before. It even goes into more detail than other vlogs I have seen from the same day.

Say what you want about him and his channel, completely irrelevant. The video provides the best behind the scenes tour of the ride I've ever seen on the internet.

A very well spent 45 minutes of my time.

The inside of that ride across it's two buildings is truly a maze of steel, concrete and water! It seems to be something BPB have a knack for doing, look at the Ghost train building, another internally extremely complex building.

Looking at how vast the inside is, can't help but think that it would be the perfect set for the lair of a villian in a James Bond film like hiding nukes behind a fake cliff haha.

All serious though I know it might be pricey IMO but considering what you get with the tour it might be worth and if they are to put more of these tours on for the rest of the year to sell out numbers then it might honestly help cover that big leccy bill for the ride, plus just seeing how many moving parts for the effects just shows how difficult it is to keep on top of everything.

One of the things I thought was interesting that was said in the video was that they always try to keep the effects working and their aim is to always keep them working. But because there are so many, with so many different conditions that have to be met for them to trigger (specifically the fire) there is a lot that can go wrong with the effects then turning off, aka failing safe.

They then went on to say that when they are made aware that something has tripped, they almost always try to get it back working, but factors such as the time of day and if they need to shut the ride down temporarily to reset them come into play. If a fire effect that tripped an hour before ride close, and in order to reset it, they would need staff to go into the ride area (necessitating a temp ride shut down) would render the effect not worth being reset until the following day. If it happened at mid day however, it makes more sense to reset it.

From what I gathered, somethings can be reset from PLC's within the main ride electrical room, which seems to be in building two, near the old snow room.

It was also crazy to hear that the ride had just 4 CCTV cameras along the circuit up until the refurbishment where there appears to now be at least 30. But 4 cameras, on a ride with so many effects, so many high walkways and dangerous areas seems insane!
