Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 2025 Discussion

Wish when they refurbished Valhalla they repaired the trommel as well. Unfortunately does not work it's on the first lift hill with skulls

I think with the refurbishment we got a slightly more cohesive theme throughout, if only slightly. For me, that is a good improvement, even without a trommel.
I still think the early 2000's version of the ride with tesla coil and the song of the elders soundtrack was peak Valhalla though.

I thought the revamp of Valhalla made some brilliant changes! Based on my experience in April, the whole thing felt a lot more cohesive and polished; I liked some of the new scenes, and perhaps controversially, I also think the new soundtrack is way better than the old one!

I still don't massively rate the ride, as it's far too wet for my liking, but to give credit where it's due, I feel that the Valhalla revamp did roundly improve it. Wetness aside, it smoothed most of the rough edges while keeping everything that was good about the original!

They did remove quite a lot of the real fire which was unfortunate.

But glad to have Valhalla it is one of the top rides in the UK great Dark Water Ride standout from the other Pleasure Beach Dark Rides.

What bits did they remove? All the blasts at the end are still there, to my knowledge.

There was a few fire torches at the start of the ride, the majority of the fire is still in place though.

What I never understood though, is the reason that was given for the removal of the reverse turntable was due to it giving 90% of the rides downtime. Ok fair point. But with the money they spent on removing a turntable and installing a brand new out of water turntable for the current setup, could that money not have been spent making the reverse turntable setup more reliable? Many rides have reverse turntables and manage just fine. Plus they removed a turntable for guess what, a new turntable. Maybe they did not have the budget to install two new turntables, so a single one where the ride goes down the drop forward was the only solution.

The new music is good, but I hate this fad of Ima Score style over the top 'epic' style music that everywhere seems to be using. I am paraphrasing here but it lost it's originality once every park and their dog started using that style of music on every new installation about a decade ago. Not everything has to have an epic, marching to war victory style of music to it. But so many, many attractions over Europe do and have continued to do so for a while now. Not all attractions, but a high percentage for sure.

I don't think anybody ever confirmed it, but it was long rumoured the current turntable is the old bottom one moved up.
I've only skipped through the video mentioned a few posts back, but it's easy to see the complexity and why a 'perfect runthrough' is unlikely. Must be a maintenance nightmare having so many different systems (And judging by the video, various ages).

No idea what the current downtime is about, but I noticed everything appeared to be off today. The water level in the trough has dropped in the absence of the pumps running. Unusual to see whilst the park is open, even when the ride isn't.

It very well could be actually, because even though it was in the dark, you could feel yourself going up onto a platform exactly like you do with this top one now. So yes it seems very plausable.

Valhalla is am absolutely amazing ride. Absolutely bonkers and they would never build anything like that now nor would any other park but that's what makes ut so brilliant. What other ride would put you into fire? No other ride in the world.

The Beach have a new "My god we are desperate for income, our pricing system has killed off all our regular holiday trade, and our product is so devalued due to all the ride closures...fire sale time again...get the matches..."
Fridays and Sundays through August.
Two for fifty, four for 99 offer.

They never used to do offers in peak summer holidays.

Don't worry Rob, there's another great feature to the pricing system.

They've got rid of junior tickets entirely, everyone is now paying full price based off their website today - 'individual' rather than adult or junior.

That will surely win over the large number of people who think the park is too expensive

Another point from last weeks brief visit.

Used to love meeting the Tartan Army in Crevettes mid July...great conversations with total strangers with strange accents over a few beers.
This year, quiet bar, plenty of tables to choose from, and not a Scottish accent to be heard, with no massive family clans taking over three tables pushed together.
They must be losing a fortune on secondary spend this summer, the Tartan Mass has not invaded this year.

The Velvet Coaster was rammed full of sweatys today but Pleasure Beach was fairly quiet. Don't blame them for not visiting, it gets to the point where annual visits become a waste of money if there's a) nothing new to ride and b) more rides have closed.

Valhalla is open now btw! Just had a incredible ride on it before leaving to catch the train.
