Disneyland Paris: General Discussion

2028 would make sense- I know a completely different ride but Monster Inc land/coaster at Hollywood studios has started construction now and that’s expected to be a spring/summer 2028 opening.

Plus there has been some rumours of finally a major new ride being added to the main park in 2029 (but there has been rumours of major new rides at that park for two decades! So who knows!).

There is something unusual about that boat. It has a section at the front that is running along the trough, potential on its own track, hard to tell. Like a zero car or guide car in front but below the boat.
Can't think of another water ride that has that.

Maybe there is some design so it can run better in low water levels, enabling the ride to operate without a major splashdown in the Winter?

Interesting post here that explains the reasoning for the test model, even if it is enthusiast speculation:

Although all that is really stating is they built it for testing, not why Imagineering have made a custom designed flume ride that needs testing. Given lots of manufactuers have standard flumes and Disney already have flume rides in multiple parks, there has to be a unique element to this one that needs tests.

Not remotely interested in visiting for Frozen. However a splash Mountain inspired flume ride with a Lion Ling theme is definitely worth a trip for.

I concur on the above thoughts too. This must have some sort of new tech. No way they are building a test drop sequence for a standard flume ride.

2028 or 2029 do we reckon?

Am I right in thinking that Lion King will be the same ride system as Shanghai Pirates? If so, it's a much bigger drop than Shanghai and the drop is outdoors, which might explain the testing. If you look at the front of the boat underneath, it looks like the same pivot to rotate the boat around.

If it's Shanghai's ride system then it seems like they wouldn't need to test it, and the speculation above about testing a split station (solved by it's a small world decades ago) and tight turns (seemingly solved by, I don't know, the fundamentals of geometry) doesn't make that much sense to me. I guess that having a more technically advanced boat like in Shanghai plus a big drop might be new enough to have cause for checking it out in advance, but in the above picture the rest of the flume doesn't appear to have the center guiding track from Shanghai or any room for the boat to rotate in different directions. I guess we'll see.

Hong Kong Disneyland have released concept art for what is essentially the Marvel Tower of Tower (see below).

Whilst i've no doubt it will be an excellent ride considering that system, i am somewhat concerned that this could be the future for Paris too considering the location of the current ride. What do we think? To do a retheming at that scale seems like it would be too much (hopefully).

While I wouldn’t want WDW to change there’s, I love the Gudians of the Galaxy version at Disneyland. I have ridden both the original and guardians version at California adventure and prefer the guardians version. It was the complete surprise of my trip back in 2019, even better was the Monsters After Dark version, (the normal versions runs until mid afternoon before switching to the Halloween overlay). Both are so much fun. I think it’s good sometimes to have different versions at different resorts and not just copies of rides.

I think Paris will remain the same theme for a long while yet, if it was to change think would have happened by now. With the lion king ride (likly 2028), a potential third land for around the lake in planning (2030/31) and finally a major ride/expansion at the Disneyland park rumoured for 2029 I think we won’t see a major change any time soon.

Whether us romantics and nerds like it or not.......the Twilight Zone is a really outdated IP now.

Dont get me wrong I still love the attraction and the theme too but I can understand why some people would think its now a bit naff and needs updating.

Luckily for us Disney dont care enough about Paris so they will probably leave that one alone or delay the changes as long as possible.

I would agree that the IP may be a bit old, but I would argue they just have to re film the pre show with a new slightly differnt story (same premise, perhaps it is a lightning storm without the twilight zone part)

what I really dislike is what they did to the California one, the interior and pre show may be good, but that building just looks horrific and doesn't match any of the surrounding theming and looks like an eye sore for a far.

they could retheme it to another IP, but I really struggle to think of how they would make it look good in the areas of each remaining park it is in (Hollywood part of Hollywood studios and studios parks (although studios isn't that well themed to begin with))
