Pet Hates

Getting rather fed up of London busses constantly stopping "to regulate the service". It takes me two busses to get to work. The first one should only be a ten minute trip. The last six days, it has taken 25, and not because of traffic, but because the bus stops at least three times, to sit there for five minutes, with the engine idling, the doors open, and the lights off. Because of this, I keep missing my connection to the second bus, which only runs every 20 minutes.

I have heard drivers getting shouted at over the radio for "being too early". "You told me to wait for six minutes and I did." "Don't care, you're too early. Drive slower!"

I refuse to believe it is physically possible for a London bus to be early. It's clear that what is actually happening is that the bus has become so late, that they decide to drop it from service and make it the next bus on the timetable. I can only presume they get penalised for a "late" bus, but not a "cancelled" one.

Good job you never had to rely on the 166 Castleford to Leeds.

A Service that appears once every equinox. Even then it's late

I've been waiting for the official announcement of the Lego USS Enterprise 1701-D for almost a year.
...
And after all that, we get an ugly grey hexagon covered in stickers, that looks almost, but not quite, entirely unlike the intended subject matter. I am not a happy AFOL right now.

And to make matters worse, I still have to wait another 4 1/2 hours before I can meet my mate in the pub for some much needed ale consumption!

We use YYYY MM DD as a folder naming convention so that when the folders are sorted by name they're also in date order. Aside from being widely used in many countries, it also has the advantage of being less likely to be misinterpreted by people who use the incorrect MM DD YYYY format.

Due to an international convention.

Once a year we have bow down to the Americans and use their date system. For one day a year in September we change to the 9th of November for 24 glorious hours.

No that's not true, they've been using it since before the 20th century.

It's simply because that's how Americans use the date system. They say the month and then the date in general conversation, e.g. November 7th, whereas we tend to say 7th November.

I have no recollection of even typing that!

In unrelated news, I have found my favourite ever pub.

Where's the paracetamol?

.... So anyway, after a serious debate with the mrs, lasting many hours in to the night, watching YouTube reviews, reading online reviews, looking closely at every picture for hours, and considering it's many flaws....
.... we have agreed that we're going to have to order it within the first few minutes of midnight, to make sure we get that Ro Laren minifig in the GWP.

Sounds like my Lego logic... Loads of things I'm not keen on, then I order it!

....I totally haven't been on Brick Link scrounging up parts to make Q and a couple of Borg drones.

I'm certainly not giving serious thought to building an accurate minifig scale bridge, from plans, with the same removable wall sections as the real set, or anything crazy like that.

... And even if I did, I'd certainly stop there, not add the ready room, turbo lift, head, conference room, the rest of deck one...... 👀

But which version would I build anyway?
