Paultons Park: General Discussion

Compare and contrast the effort, quality and detail compared to the industrial rubbish installed by Merlin recently. Just the pride and execution in what they’ve done is streets ahead anything I’ve seen Merlin install for well over 20 years. (Jumanji, New FV etc)
New Fobidden Valley and Jumangji are not bad areas at all they are immersive and do have details themselves through out.

Valgard does look gorgeous though but the proof will be if it can best Tornado Springs

My main concern with Drakon will be its capacity Eurofighters don't have the highest anyway personally think they should of had the duel dispatch that Saw the Ride has where it can send 16 Riders at once

Why is the queue for Drakon so short like if that archway is the entrance you go in walk 20 yards and its the stairs into the station

Because Paulton's doesn't have queues :D

I jest but beyond opening vlog/relevant media day i'd be very surprised if this coaster has a queue that exceeds 10 minutes. Stormchaser almost never does and that is with a 1m restriction.

Vertika has woeful capacity, this will be much the same.

As people have said Paultons rarely gets slammed so these rides will cope just fine for now.

Does make me slightly worried though should their popularity boom over coming years though. I would hate to be waiting 1-2 hrs for what it is a pretty tame Eurofighter.

That depends if they install a capacity eating monster ride that would do the work for the park. Actually two big capacity hitter rides would help the park if they are to expand in popularity.

Remember that they purposely cap the attendance though; they could be busier if they wanted, but they would rather keep the queues shorter for a better guest experience.

Drakon will have three cars of 8 seats each, and I believe they'll operate two cars on off-peak days and three on peak days.
Presuming a ride cycle time of 90 seconds, and a station dispatch time of 30 seconds, with all three cars running, the optimal theoretical throughput would be 960 pph.

With only two cars, this drops to 480 pph.

This could be rather painful, unless the ops are absolutely on top of it and there's a culture change at the park.

I don’t think queues will be an issue, but that’s more down to Paultons’ lower profile outside of Peppa Pig, as well as their admittedly careful and considered management of park capacity, rather than any particular brilliance in terms of operations or ride throughputs.

Nothing there currently hits an amazing throughput, and while operations aren’t bad by any means, I wouldn’t say the platform staff have the same level of urgency as seen at, say, Alton Towers or Thorpe Park.

Drakon will not be a queue muncher, but nothing else at Paultons really is either. The queues are kept short by Paultons being quiet, and I imagine Drakon will be much the same.

My concern with Paultons as it grows those older rides will be less efficient at handling large crowds. At some point it could be possible for Paulton's to become UK's busiest park

I can't see there being a sudden spike in attendance unless they invested in something quite dramatic.

It will more likely be gradual growth and they're adding capacity in line with this.

2026 will essentially have 4 attractions that were not present in 2025 (Drakon, Vild Swing, Raven and Edge) plus a playground and restaurant. That's a massive boost to capacity and then there's at least one new ride coming in 2027 too.

Paultons are a park more than any other in the UK that prioritise good customer experiences. They'd have to actively veer away from this policy for people to be faced with multi-hour queues.

Was at work a while back and overheard “Peppa Pig World is really clean, Drayton’s good too”, two people who were pretty much the core demographic (and clearly not enthusiasts) for these parks at the moment, right by the doorstep of Alton Towers.

Says a lot really about how the general sentiment on here towards Paultons is also echoed by the public…
