Pleasurewood Hills

Where Rootin Tootin Target Trail is that area

Where Rootin Tootin Target Trail is that area
Yeah main street. There use to be a large gift shop down there which is now part of rootin tootin que line entrance, the donut stall on the end no idea what they do with that now, it became another food outlet in recent years yet think its sbno now. The other end of rootin tootin use to be a fish and chip shop which is still actually there be it bordered up ( assume the fryers were taken out)

The other side has always been the arcade and a food unit with inside seating

And the same people will whine about the park getting neglected. I think they are doing the best they can with the resources available, but why this also feels like the last days of the American adventure. They gave it a go, but it was never going to be enough.
I think that this is quite different to American Adventure to be fair. Two years before AA closed down, they closed their three most popular rides all at once, presumably to cut costs, and sold this as “we’re rebranding to a family park now”, all that replaced those very popular rides was off-the-shelf kids rides lifted straight out of the Zamperla catalogue.

I think that AA’s rebrand failed because it was too much of a change, too soon. You can’t go from being an all-round park with a core visitor base of teenagers, to a families-only, teenagers not welcome type park overnight, it has to be a gradual shift. Which is also why I’m so surprised that AA’s 2005-2006 strategy seems to have kind of worked for Lightwater Valley.

Pleasurewood Hills has of course closed a few rides over the years, but this has been a gradual process over a number of years and the major rides- Wipeout, Cannonball Express, Marble Madness - are all staying, as far as we know.

Any new additions, without ride closures on the side, will seem like a positive step for what has been a very neglected park for many years.

I hope so, although I'm not sure how long Cannonball can keep going, or even if it is operating this season.

Hopefully this does stop the rot, but it's hard to see what the 5 or 10 year plan might look like because I can't see the park growing or having the resources to make it so.

Time will tell.

They need to keep Canonball going for a few more years until they bring in peminant replacements. They can't afford to loose rides especially coasters.

Didn't they declare they're going to refurbish it?
Not as such, they said they are not happy with it in its current state ( been looking absolutely horrific for many years now ) I suspect it could be SBNO this year or at least open maybe for peak season only.

We shall see

Sounds like to me they're refurbishing or scrapping it, the piece they put out about it suggested they want to keep it so it'll be some sort of refurbishment between just a repaint to a full systems rework.

Found out the other day on a comment they are planning to run Fun Water Works Log Flume on full capacity with all boats.

And they are going to continue to refurbish stuff into the season and not just closed season

Which is what these days 3 boats ? Lol

If only the other water ride was run using both lanes

Maybe requires a complete overhaul to run again must be in really bad shape. At leas the park is looking better and havijg 4 additional rides for this season
I wouldn't be surprised if we dont see it come back again. Its in a terrible mess.

As the new season starts there is nothing new for guests to try out other than a refurbishment of some log flumes

Any new rides are still quite far off, I say potentially as late as whitsun subject to approval

That's my worry. It just feels like all options are on the table is code for 'we didn't realise how broken it was.' while I'm disappointed that mellors haven't done more than put spinning coaster in at LWV, in reality it looks like smarter business than that done at PWH I was hoping that cannonball would run for a bit to bed in the new ownership, but without it, it's feels a really weak offering.

It's hard to justify a 6 hour trip to do the missile and marble madness both of which I have done in their previous lives.

Cannonball Express is a very good ride, and ideally I'd like to see it refurbished by someone like Gerstlauer, with all-new trains and smooth, magnetic braking. But whether it's worth it just depends on the price, I suppose. It's probably not worth £10m, for instance, is it? Potentially, we could see it replaced with a superior coaster, but it's still a bit unknown whether Premier Attractions would invest in a permanent ride of any type. Here's hoping they do.
