[202X] Project Horizon (SW9?): Planning Approved

Wow - he only posted 1 message, but has a feedback score of 41 ! (now 42, as I also liked the post)

I wonder if that's a record

(If this website allowed dislikes then I might set the record for lowest score :( )

His username is listed as an "Official Account", and so I assume that it is legit (although I'm not sure how the TS staff verified it).

It looks like he hasn't been seen since November 2024, though.

The timing of him joining (2022) seems a bit suspicious, as wasn't this around the time that Attraction Source closed their forum? I wonder if he was previously a member of that website instead?

I didn't know that! Does anybody know his username, or has he chosen to remain anonymous? When did he mention that he is a Towers Street member? Does he actually post, or does he just read? (ex-Merlin creative team member Bradley Wynne said in 2018 that he - Brad - reads the online forums, but he didn't specifically mention this website)

I remember hearing that companies such as Nintendo now have to rigorously test names before they are approved, in order to ensure that they are not offensive in other languages*, and also that the name can be trademarked overseas as well, and so perhaps Merlin now follows a similar process?

(*I'm not sure how thorough Nintendo's testing is, though, because 'Wii' sounded like the British slang 'wee')

Truthfully, I am surprised that the Merlin board signed off on the 'Smiler' concept, as I thought it was a bad idea from the start (and so did JW). For that reason, I assumed that the decision was made by only a small number of people, but perhaps I am in the minority and they all loved it!
It depends if he chose to remain anonymous or not!

He published his e-mail address on his website, and so I wasn't sure whether he did the same with his TS username as well.
I'll try to find it, out of interest. Thanks for letting me / us know! (Don't worry: I won't message him!)

Hopefully it was really him and not a fraudster...

What the hell does any of this have to do with Project Horizon? Could we please try to stay on topic, and not creepily attempt to publicly doxx someone who has the right to a private life?

Jesus wept.

Most companies will have a legal team that do this. See this post from the Toxicator thread:

There was some opposition to that name but ultimately, Merlin were able to proceed.
