Lodges (not cheap) and tents also need services putting in, water, toilets, electric hook ups etc are not cheap on a large scale.

Okay let me reraphse, cheaper and with a highly likelyhood of big returns than a major new coaster. They could almost certainly get the permission if they already got permission once, I reckon it'll be on the top of the Mellors list. They already have the expertese and relationships with all the relevent companies, and will only be increasing their scale for better prices.
As for toilets and electric for tents, you could probably get some relatively cheap modular buildings to serve the purpose without too much hassle.

Think on the Rightmove listing they still listed it as having planning permission for the lodges.

I don't think it moaning just managing expectations. I'm sure a full business plan was scoped out before they purchased the park. They are starting from a considerably worst point than Pleasurewood, but Light water does have more potential imo

Spoke to him on the opening of spinning racer, and a woman came up to him and basically demanded the ultimate back. Didn't get the impression that they were afraid to spend money it was very much a case of what they spend has to be proportional and justify itself. Don't think it's an unfair thing to say. It would be class if they got RMC to build a new longer version of the ultimate, but they would be bankrupt in no time, and the money could be much wiser spent filling the park with a range of rides to best suit the demographic.

And tbf, everything is needlessly expensive now and we all moan about it daily!

I'd love to see a cline of Ultimate back, however I agree it'd just be too expensive at this point. Mellors have to rebuild the entire park at a slow and steady sustainable pace. Spinning racer required very little investment as mellors already had that ride in their portfolio & with lots of other travelling rides that they own I think.thats what we'll see get located in that park in the short to medium term

Very slim chance LWV ever gets something on the scale of the Ultimate. At least not if they want the park to continue as a going concern. It was a millstone around the parks neck, whatever comes next needs to be suitable for the size of the park.

I'd actually almost be angry if they attempted to either. They do need more for an older audience and could maybe use the ultimate station as a museum for the ride with maybe a small simulator playing out what it was like on the ride (albeit without the bruises!), but it's gone, and was past it's best anyway.

There is so much more they could do to fill the park with decent stuff long before the expense of thinking of an ultimate 2.0.

That needs the wild river rapids from fantasy island and theme it back to the sewer rat! Nostalgia and something new all at once! Who doesn't like a good wet patch in the dark?

I'd be surprised if they did attempt to replicate the Ultimate, I can't lie

The park needs filler rides first even if a few of them are relocations from other parks. Parks like LWV can't afford vanity projects like a new Ultimate. I'm sure they will get a large coaster at some point but they are starting pretty much from scratch.

I agree that an Ultimate 2.0 is unlikely any time soon and would be a bad decision at present. If they get down the line, with a good supporting line up and they want to relaunch a new ultimate, using similar land, sure, but it would need to have it's own new marketing element too.
A decent family coaster is absolutely essential, and as much as spinning racer is an excellent addition, I think a somewhat themed, unique, possibly custom family coaster would do wonders for the park.
If woodies were easier to market in the UK I would suggest that as being perfect for the park, could get one for a really good price, although I'm unsure what kind of funds Mellors have got to actually invest at present.
