Carpet fitters were supposed to put the finishing touches to our bedroom today.
Amazing. They brought the wrong carpet. Too small and wrong colour. Who knows how long this will take to rectify now?
You couldn't script it. I'm living in a bloody Fawlty Towers episode.
Ten weeks and counting without a bedroom.

A vent in your bedroom??We finally have a carpet!
... So naturally, after all painting, carpet, and other finishing touches are done, NOW they say "we need to come back next week and knock a hole through the wall to install a vent".![]()

Even worse is the eBay generative AI descriptions that take the small amount of information in the item specifics and just add unnecessary words around it!I unlocked a new pet hate yesterday.
People giving poor descriptions of items on eBay. I was looking for an item and not one of the first 5 items I clicked on had a good description. A lot of people are just too lazy to write any kind of description at all and just use the stock Ebay description of what the item actually is. Yeah, I already know what it does, that's why I'm attempting to buy it! Others just use a 2 word description like "Good condition". I don't wanna be funny, but when it's an electrical item worth several hundred quid I'd like to know a bit about how much it's been used, is it boxed etc etc. Just part of the worsening of everything I suppose, and more and more stupid people gaining access to the internet. Lazy gits.

I don't brush my teeth, so this isn't a problem for me (j/k)Becoming fixated on something that I don't like.
I have spent all of today thinking about eating dried toothpaste.
I wasn't intending to bring another installement of JA moans about the job hunt into this threat but.....why do recruiters think its okay to email you at stupid oclock at night to tell you that you haven't got a job? There's a schedule send button if you want to work late at night for this purpose. Then unrelated to that recruiter I woke up to another rejection email. I'm not even sure if this qualifies as a pet hate, or rather just an actual hate.

I'm sorry to hear that (it sounds like adding insult to injury)I wasn't intending to bring another installement of JA moans about the job hunt into this threat but.....why do recruiters think its okay to email you at stupid oclock at night to tell you that you haven't got a job? I have a somewhat similar situation, in which TalkTalk send me an automated text message each month, confirming the renewal of the broadband subscription - at 2 a.m. in the morning !!
Fortunately, I have my phone on silent overnight anyway (and I am often awake late, as it happens), but could they not at least automate it to send during the daytime?
P.S. Yahoo Mail is able to schedule e-mails, but I wish WhatsApp could do so as well
(It took a long time before conversations could be muted in WhatsApp as well)

Not the usual pet hates, but I'm running out of ideas. New kitten (nearly 1 year old) is not settling in with the older cat - so far as I'd say my pets hate each other.
I've tried all the ideas, base camp, scent swapping, distraction, treats, supervised interactions, pheromone diffusers, all the stuff I can find. Unfortunately they're just not getting it that they can exist in the same room without throwing paws. Maybe someone on here is a cat whisperer with a new idea.
Both are healthy (if incredibly grumpy) and vet says just to persevere.

I don’t know how long they have had to settle in separate rooms on arrival of your kitty, but may be worth pressing reset and let them have their own space for the next 4/5 days. Hopefully they get used to each others scents and come around.
PS congratulations, cats are amazing

I like the bit where critter. Sadly my pet behaviour experience is more focused on cat food.
Today I encountered a new way to block the pavement. Stand to one side having a conversation, while your two dogs play fight on the other side, and their leads form a perfect ankle height trip wire across the path.
