Cariba Additions?

Thing is, the waterpark management really are pushing for an expansion, as do most of the Alton Towers' management, but it is Merlin that have to approve funds for all developments at the end of the day.

Id imagion the addition of that huge funnel would of been a bit of an eye sore to those staying in the inward facing rooms at splash. at the moment the view from those rooms is quite nice with all the pools and the lights at night.

Stick that funnel in and it suddenly gets a bit claustrophobic looking to me

The other long discussed addition is that of a space-bowl somewhere in the water park

The problem with any substancial addition to Cariba Creek is the fact it wasn't included in the original designs means it would probably look a bit bodged.

:)

the theme of Cariba is meant to look like that isn't it? :p its my understanding that paradise plumbers aren't the most reliable of plumbers!

In an ideal world, the indoor roof would be extended to cover the Flash Floods, creating additional poolside space, and slides would go out of the extended structure, but this would no doubt be very expensive!

The thing is, Cariba is actually one of the highest quality water parks I've been to! But, ironically, its one of the smallest and one that runs out of things to do fairly quickly. I think adding a bit more would be a very wise addition! One new slide could entice a great number of guests fairly quickly!

A bowl would be nice! As would a wave pool or a vortex pool!

As well as being high quality, it is nice to be in, with all the light coming in from above, whereas I've felt other waterparks are dingy and not exactly pleasant. I fear that if new slides were added that went inside, the waterpark could potentially turn this way. :(

Never actually been in the waterpark but I have seen it from the walk through between the hotels to me the main pool looks farly small I know theres no future plans to expand the waterpark but they can really improve it if they just spent money on it

How can anyone get bored of tipping water on un-suspecting passers by from Wacky Waterworks Tree House?

Me & my brother (late 20s) spent about 4 hours there on new years day, didn't want to leave :( ( granted we have a mind-set of 10y/olds )

NYE was also awsome btw - probably do it again this year.

I spend a lot of time in the outdoor bit, i dont think it should be made indoors personally. I find myself getting stressed (if Im not on an attraction) in the building, its too busy (&hot) so I personally love a 'quiet' swim outdoors, even in the freezing cold (NY day) its quite surreal in the 'hot-tub' section especially.

As per my username, I was rather taken with Cariba Creek. ;D

The problem is it's starting to stagnate and with next year being 10 years since opening, having no new attractions is not acceptable. The issue is whether Alton want it to be an add-on to the hotel as it currently is, or a full blown second park as it is advertised. The first requires minimal investment but is unsustainable in the long run, but the second requires more money and ultimately a dilution of the thematic effect.

Personally I think we need more waterparks in this country anyway, so if Alton can lead by example it can only be a good thing.

If they want this, like it was intended first, then they should advertise it as a perk for hotel guests and not over advertise it on park. They have already gone past the point of no return, loads of people are now aware of it, and expect to be able to visit. They expect new attractions like at the theme park - do they get any? No.

Exactly, if a theme park had gone 10 years without a new ride it would have failed. Silly things like the busy and cramped changing rooms or the small amount of showers, to the stupid queueing system (which I have seen at a waterpark in Spain as well) mean guests probably don't leave as satisfied as they should be.

Although this is from our old home;

Rather than starting a new topic, as this is still waiting internal consent before being submitted to the planning office.

Plans for 4 slides coming from a central tower have been sent to Merlin by the Waterpark to be added in an extended area outside. This isn't the first time that this has been attempted. As of yet no theme or landscaping has been shown on any plans and they say at the bottom that they are preliminary and not for construction use.

It was posted in December but shows that Alton have been pushing for an expansion.

I'll have to post up a rough map drawing of my idea.

Basically I had the idea of extending the indoor waterpark, to the point it completely covers the already outdoor area, then extends even further back. Then behind/next to Extraordinary Golf a new Waterpark entrance would be built for guests. The current entrance inside the Splash Landings Hotel would be strictly for hotel guests only, although they would be free to use the exterior entrance.

Along side this though would also be the entertainments complex/second theme park entrance. Linking the resort and theme park together. It would also open up the new Waterpark entrance to this complex, allowing daily guests easy access into the Waterpark without causing stress on the hotels - which at the moment for me, is a huge issue - the amount of day guests walking through that hotel is completely unneeded for, they need an outdoor entrance!

THis exactly what they need. Not only do people traipsing through the hotel get annoying, but just before 10am the queue has usually extended up the stairs to Flambos!

Moving the entrance wont happen, the existing entrance lets merlin 'show off' the hotel to non guests, encouraging a stay

I'd disagree with you there.

Guests know the hotel is there. Sure walking through will show off parts of the hotel although chance is, if they are a day guest they will have no intentions of staying in the hotel in the first place. It's not like people are unaware of the hotels any more, since 2008 Alton Towers have re-branded Alton Towers and plaster hotel marketing all over the place so it's not like there is already not enough to 'show off' the hotels to guests.

having adverts up around the resort is no substitute for having the guest actually walk through the doors to get to the water park.

and even if they are only staying for the day on that occasion by actually being inside the hotels can make them want to come back on another occasion to stay over

So I was in Cariba Creek yesterday and there was a lady going around with a clipboard that said "Proposed Outdoor Pool re-development" on it. Any idea what that's all about? :)

Possibly a proposed outdoor pool re-development idea? ;)

In all serious, this would be great for the Waterpark! It could make me visit, as the current attractions and visitor numbers do not tempt me that much...

I do hope this happens, and if it does, I can't wait to see what will happen!

A new slide, or slides, as well as an extended pool? Please?
