Thanks all for the replies. The reason i asked is because when on 13's drop it proper gets u in the gut even though it aint that far a drop and thought that oblivion was a similar gut wrench but on a bigger scale.Any more than thirteens sensation wud be a bit too much for the belly and soul lol

I have had the restraint "pop" effect on air a few times esp on the barrel roll section and the first time it happens to u it gives u the jitters abit lol.im always on the slack lock then it pops to the next one with the force :)

I didn't think it was possible on air or smiler as it doesn't lock in "clicks", whereas nemesis, oblivion, th13teen etc do. Might be wrong as I haven't been on air for a while, but I'm sure it's similar to the smiler restraints.

It does have clicks. 3 or 4 notches I think.

You can have the restraints on air half way between clicks when u pull them down and when force is applied it goes to the higher or lower lock usually on the roll section when it straightens back up.
Im sure this has happened to others?

Air's harnesses are setup a bit different in the station the act like Oblivion's, Nemesis's and Spinball's but before the craft leaves they go from latched to locked, once locked (if they are half way between locking points the seat has to be rechecked hence the row X seat X announcements over the PA and a staff member comes and pushes it into place) they can't be tightened and the only way they can pop is if a component breaks. 13's, Rita's and The smilers harnesses work in a different way (I've got no Idea how they work) but the do work in a different way if they pop then a component has broken.

Since you mention spinball ive had the same with that aswell, clicks into place at the top of the first turn at the top of the chainlift just like it was halfway locked then fully locked after the force of the turn.
Maybe i leave a slight gap when the restraints are checked then when im thrown with force it manages to move to the tighter lock?

Hiya :) I'm visiting the park next month. It'll be my third visit, but whenever I've visited before I've only ever went on the Big 6. First time we visited in the height of summer and literally managed the 6 (2.5hr wait for Smiler. Wah!) and that was it but when I visited the last time we managed to go on everything more than once but having read here, it seems like there's loads of other good stuff to go on that I've stupidly never even considered!

So, clearly because of my ignorance I've missed out, so when I come next month, which of the other rides are definite "do not miss" ones, and is there a best way to go round the park? We usually come in and go straight to X-Sector then round that way but are we better working from the top back? We should be there for it opening :)

Thank you

To be honest, the park is so quiet now, especially midweek (check the park is OPEN the day you are visiting!!!) that there is no right way around. You will get on everything multiple times during the day.

Must do 's at towers? Obviously the big 6 (though I sometimes miss Rita as I don't think it's as good as any of the others), and also things like duel, Congo, hex, sub terra, spinball. With the park as quiet as its been though, you should easily do all this and more. Also, if you're with kids, then it might be worth doing blade, twirling toadstool and runaway mine train. It's easier to say which rides to avoid, and I'd personally say battle galleons (great theming, but just not fun), ice age (not seen the new film, but you normally come out feeling like you've wasted 20 minutes), and Rita or spinball if they have longer than a 30 minute queue. :)

Thanks to a wonderful debate on youtube with a guy telling me the smiler has both offloading and loading (simultaneously...), I'd just like clarification on something. Have they actually got any replacement trains for the ride yet? I assumed it was none/one, however mr knowledgable tells me they 'have got the trains back'.

Since the Alton Towers website is useless... Moon Voyager rooms. I've heard they have fridges, is this true (and included in the price)?

Also, regarding theme park tickets being collected. I know they can be collected from any ticket booth at the entrance, although is there any booth/area at the entrance where there's typically a shorter queue? I've never done the whole booking tickets online and collecting thing so I'm in the unknown here.

If you have booked them with a hotel package I think they can be collected from the hotels. However don't quote me on that!

I've stayed in the Moon Voyager room and I didn't notice a fridge. I know there's one in the celebration room as it had a big bowl of chocolates in there that they kept topped up everyday .
However there was an Xbox in there with a Harry Potter Lego game in the bunk bed area.
