Hex - If and when will it return

I really do hope that Hex is actually getting a 'refurbishment' and a noticable one as they will come under a lot of fire should it re-open with no changes.

I know that work has been taking place inside of Hex but am not sure of the extent or exactly how noticeable it will be. It would be nice to see some enhanced effects and what not but that's probably wishful thinking. One thing I would like is for them to get TVs in the Octagon that don't emit light when they're 'off'.

:)

Hex will be back quite soon imo.Last time i went towers, Hex music was playing all over the monorail & park which means they know we are missing it and want us to feel its still there in the park with us whilst they spruce it up.Quite a nifty trick!

Actually, the music playing in the monorail/monorail station was the 2015 fireworks finale music. It features sections from hex, th13teen, and nemesis' music, as well as in the hall of the mountain king. I think the reason for it being played is not because the park know we're missing hex, but rather because they've paid IMAscore for the music, so they're going to use it (plus it is amazing audio and really creates an atmosphere of excitement in the monorail station)

All i noticed was Hex music out of all that, maybe i got lucky with the loop.Yep its the fireworks version of the hex theme and i reckon its alot better than the ride version!
Im missing hex and welcomed the audio around the park etc which worked well with hex being closed and im sure im not the only one who felt like that.Maybe its just a coincidence but all the time ive been going ive never heard so much hex audio around the park until now that hex is closed for the first time.

Can't quite remember what type of screens they are using, but unless they use an OLED TV over LCD, there will always be than light coming through.

The only screens that will emit ZERO light when "black" are good old CRTs. Even OLEDs will leak some light in a pitch dark room.

Can't argue about CRTs, but an OLED panel by very nature will have an infinite contrast ratio (out of sunlight) as a black pixel is not emitting any light at all.

You're talking to a broadcast engineer mate... I'm in a gallery full of OLEDs right now. ;) They are good - the best you can get now that no one makes CRTs any more - but there is still some light leak.

They must be pretty awful screens then ;)

They need to sort out the end of the audio so it doesn't sound so distorted. Don't know if its the building its in, or bad speakers, but anyone who's heard a high quality version might agree that the end of the audio sounds a little distorted

I concur, Hex has just not felt the same since they turned down all of the audio a few years back. You can barely hear the introduction. The video in the next room is much quieter which ruins the atmosphere for me and the vault music sounds like it's played on a gramophone. It should bellow out in all it's bassy glory and fill the vault with a memorable end. :D

Baffles me why they ever bothered turning down music and sound effects on INDOOR rides, which don't affect the noise order at all.

the speakers may have just deteriorated with age. hopefully this is something they sort out as it does ruin the experience a bit

if, like me, you miss Hex, here's a recreation of it, by Virtual Towers Online, a game currently in development! this is the first section they did, and they released it so people can look at and explore it (be warned: the file is very big! for those of you who cannot download it, I've embedded a video that they also released). I've also embedded a link to their Facebook page, as well.
