Towers Loving Care

I

It'd be great if they included the original "Don't Look Down" timed to the shuttles dropping!

Loving the new audio, it's a nice addition. Wish they would find a way to bring back the timed "don't look down". Have they fixed the queueline music/speakers? The past few years I think there's only been one queue speaker working and that's the one just before the turn where you enter the station. It's always quiet too.

Did anyone else look at those videos and think a couple of hours jet washing those walls would massively improve the pits look?

I noticed that. Disgusting. How is it that Towers don't own their own jet washer? A simple inexpensive tool that requires very little skill to use and can be deployed at any time to keep the park clean.

hi first post can the smiler music not be heard from outside the park as I have always thought it was rather loud

I've always wondered about this. Right up until the crash I always thought The Smiler's music was really loud, too much for them to get away with I thought, but now, just a few weeks ago when I visited, Smiler's music was far too quiet.

I presume that they do own a Jet washer, but it's SBNO "The jet washer is currently unavailable while we sprinkle some Towers Loving Care across the Themepark"

Are people really complaining about the walls having a bit of dirt on them?! I think it enhances the XSector theme personally, though maybe i'm just weird lol. Loving the new audio however.

No. It just makes it look like towers don't care about the area. There are certain things that towers can leave and it enhances the area (such as plants growing in dark forest), but it's obvious that towers aren't intentionally leaving the walls in that state to enhance the area.

If X-Sector had a run-down theme... possibly. However, it is not meant to be a run-down theme, and as such, should be kept in good nick.

I've thought the same, I'm pretty sure that they've turned the volume down on The Smiler's music since in re-opened in March.

Those concrete walls around Oblivion's drop most certainly do need a thorough clean. A lot of the work they did in X-Sector only a few years ago has aged rather poorly as well and could do with fresh paint/more maintenance.

:)

Yeah and I wish they would scrub out the orange paint from the concrete and paint the theming behind the drop silver again. It looks so scruffy as is. The new SFX sound great around the drop but that music is awful! Is not suited at all for that area.

That pit could really do with some lighting installed into the walls to make the area a bit brighter and generally improve its appearance. It was far better when they had pulsating lights around the fence but it's highly unlikely they will ever return.
Oblivion really does need a good scrub!

Was there just 2 days ago with someone who wasn't a theme park nerd and had never seen Dark Forest before, and their first comment when we entered the area was "what on earth is this random mess all about?" - not referring to the vines just Dark Forest as whole. The fencetastic non-forest area that it is. :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

Also commented on the stupidity of RMT's window fences.

Alton Towers has become a laughing stock, although us lot have known that for a while now.

I think they look pretty good. Subtle. Hope they're a bit more spread out than that though.

If you genuinely think that, why would spend your hard earned money on visiting? That kind of makes you the laughing stock.

And "us lot"? Despite recognising the park's faults, most people on here do actually like Alton Towers still.

Well, my Merlin Annual Pass is cheap to renew so it actually costs very little for me to visit. I like to pop my head around the door now and then for a good chuckle at what they're up to. Although tbh I'm giving serious thought to not renewing my pass in September.

Oh and my money isn't hard earned. It comes pretty easy. ;)

Because it's a good day out with good company at a place that's had quite a massive impact on my life, and the few rides they do bother to open are good. It's not very far and I own an annual pass which is reasonably well priced to renew, so I don't think a few visits a year really spoils my "Merlin are bad" stance.

It would have to get really, really bad for me to stop going. It's like a football team, you don't just go support someone else if your team starts struggling; you can keep your attachment and keep supporting while not agreeing with how things at a particular time are. And like with going the match, it doesn't necessarily matter that much how good or bad the match/park is, it's the company and what you do that makes it a good day.

Plus my job is pretty easy and a trip to Alton is more than paid for in one shift. ;)

That's all fair enough, but I wasn't aiming my post at you to be fair.
