Towers Loving Care

Backwards. It's the only way. Falling backwards into that hole would be phenomenal.
Don't give them ideas... Remember what happened with the Swarm.

They may start having it go round twice, but I can imagine that's highly unlikely. It's not that dull a ride and it still draws a thrill!

Oblivion is a fantastic ride and it still has the reputation of being extremely scary and thrilling. I know people who would go on The Smiler and would't do Oblivion as apparently that was more scary! I

Do hope we see more updates on twitter from them on TLC. I recall something be posted on twitter saying there would more updates in January.
Would love to see more paint!;)

That said, a whole new generation discovers Oblivion when they hit the right age or visit the park for the first time. If I watch my favourite film a billion times, I won't enjoy it as much - but that doesn't make it any less of a great film. Same with coasters, especially B&M rides where the ride experience of today is almost the same as the day they were built

How cool would it be if you went up forward then just before you went down it turned you

Don't think I've ever met anyone who prefers Rita to Oblivion. Besides that, apart from maybe the Big One and maaayyyyybe Nemesis, Oblivion is easily the most iconic and well known ride in the UK and is tied to Towers' reputation and the mental image people have of the place way more than Rita, Thirteen and possibly even The Smiler could ever hope to be. The impact Oblivion had at the time still lingers I think, I was only a kid when it opened, barely old enough to know what a rollercoaster is let alone ride one like Oblivion, and found it inescapable.

No way are the B&Ms going anywhere soon unless something catastrophic happens (touch wood it won't etc). Even Towers/Merlin couldn't shoot themselves in the foot that badly.

I know a few non-enthusiasts that love Oblivion and rate it just under Nemesis/The Smiler.

I can see the ride staying put for many years to come. If/when it's popularity does really decline or Towers need something new and cheap for one year, I can definitely see it becoming backwards with a new theme a la Air/Galactica (world's first vertical drop coaster fully dedicated to going backwards blah blah blah).

Although I don't disagree that Oblivion will probably be the first of the B&Ms to be removed, there's more chance of the moon crashing into earth then there is of it being removed in 10 years time or less. Hell it probably won't be removed until I'm in my 50s...

I believe we've met before, though possibly without discussing what order we rank the coasters at Towers. I'd also put Spinball ahead, I'm not sure if that puts me in a smaller or larger minority though.

I put Oblivion directly over Rita, not much in it (Oblivion is directly below SAW and Rita above Stealth) Oblivion backwards would head for the bottom of my list (the hideously crap but not painful area )

I think one of the few mistakes made by the park in the 90's was the decision not to go with the Steampunk theme for Oblivion.

It certainly would have fitted in with the parks surroundings a lot better than X Sector.

As for Spinball Whizzer, all it needs is a decent theme and a new colour scheme. It's still a good ride, let down by the fact it looks ugly as hell.

Rita on the other hand is a complete mess of an attraction, which has caused the rest of the area to look like a mess.

The best thing the park can do with that is rip it out and start again.

I'm the same, Oblivion is actually my least favourite major coaster at Towers, not because it's scary, it just doesn't do anything for me. It's more of a hassle to ride nowadays.

Back on track with the TLC again, what do we realistically expect Towers to do during this closed season? Finish the Nemesis repaint and do a little bit on Towers Street? I'm not holding out for much more than that tbh
