Pleasurewood Hills

Posting teasers for a Wave Swinger is a waste of marketing money. I'm sure they already have one as well?

:)
They had a smaller one. This is a replacement it appears. This one matches the teasers: http://www.usedrideseurope.com/ridesforsale/wave-swinger/

We had concerns as a fanbase when the current management took over. They've gone from A drop Tower, A dark ride and a coaster to A second pair of dodgems and a wave swinger.

Who in their right mind removes a dark ride for a waveswinger anyway?

They'd better have big plans afoot or this is absolute turd.

This is very disappointing news. However for a park the size of Pleasurewood Hills, with the type of gate figures that the park gets, it isn't exactly a big surprise that the park are only able to install second hand rides or rides which are smaller or more of a 'portable' nature.

If you think that a park of this size building an high expense dark ride or a custom made major thrill coaster would be a worth while investment for them, then you're living in a funny world.

Nobody expects them to do anything of the sort. Nor do they expect them to install massive, brand new rides. What must be remembered though is that they invested in a decent drop tower, Hobs Pit and a wild mouse in the space of a few years... And now in the last two installed a second set of dodgems in the park and bought a bigger Waveswinger to replace their smaller one.

If the park have a functioning dark boat ride they shouldn't be demolishing it in favour of building a Waveswinger. They should be spending the money on bringing the dark ride up to scratch with new features.

Nobody expects the world from them but it's criminal to get rid of a dark ride like that.

I guess. But to be fair even if we look at their previous investments, Hob's Pit is good for a park of that size but it is still suited to a park of that size. It would look out of place in a major park, as for the new coasters they have both been second hand and the drop tower is without doubt a fairground model. We're talking about a park with low hate figures and a very limited budget here.

As for the wave swinger replacing Tales of the Coast, my guess would be that their logic was that it isn't popular and potentially the cost of maintenance to bring it up to the standards that the modern day public would expect would not be justifiable for a park that size and that a quick fix flat ride is a more suitable use of their budget.

Personally I'd rather have seen this wave swinger installed elsewhere in the park, but if that meant leaving Tales of the Coast SBNO (which is highly possible given the cost of maintaining boat rides) then I prefer the option they've gone with (even though in an ideal world it's not what I'd have wanted them to do)

How about new wave swingers from

I can only assume, but it comes as a surprise since there were no signs of it being removed.

It was rubbish, apart from the first bit when you walked up to the ride.

They had some good ideas, but it wasn't very good.

I think all of the signs suggest that Pleasurewood Hills will be the next UK park to bite the dust.

That's Hob's Pit and the park's best family coaster removed in the last couple of years, and a significant decline in investment in recent seasons too. Just a couple of years ago there was really decent on-park entertainment as well, including a big budget illusion show which outshone similar shows as Europa Park and Portaventura; but in this department, too, the park seems to have retracted its offering.

There is nothing worthwhile left, besides Wipeout. Management clearly no longer care and the place will struggle to last until the end of the decade.

It's a rather sad state of affairs, there is promotion for a new ride this year, which presumably will take Hobs Pit's place, but I was thinking the other day, It's £22 for an adult to get in on the day, but they haven't got a big ride. Take Oakwood and Lightwater Valley, they have Megafobia and the Ultimate respectively. I think that all that is missing to keep it going is a big headline ride.

The new guy in charge does seem to care, although I will question his priorities. Why are rides like the Rattlesnake not being save? Tide Traveller not being fixed? Bring in a new ride by all means, but to replace Hobs Pit is just insane.

It was such an amazing creation for PWH back in 2013, and genuinely was a good scary dark ride, but recent years has seen all the actors removed, so it became a bit tame.

It's being redone with lasers, which could make sense really.... but they're going one step further, Hobs Pit has well and truly gone, this new laser ride is going to be wild west themed. Hobs Pit with guns wouldn't have been so bad IMO.

It is being toned down for a wider family audience too, hence the Wild West theme. It will probably be a low budget retheme but is unfortunately necessary to keep running costs down.

It's very bad that the park's parent company no longer seems to care and the place is a shadow of its former self. It will struggle to stay open, at a time when we seriously need competitor theme parks in the UK now.

It'll be fine, that ride was overrated as far as I am concerned unless everyone else got a very different experience to the one I got. I'd take the Pleasurewood Hills of 2017 over the Pleasurewood Hills of 2007 or 1997 any day of the week.

I'd assume that there was something pretty seriously mechanically wrong with Rattlesnake for them to rip it out. They could have got parts from Zierer if required, but obviously opted not to. Loopings would have stuck it in another of their parks if it was serviceable. It's worth noting none of their parks are particularly roller coaster heavy, actually - bar Bagatelle, I guess.

The park is in a bad situation in terms of the investment its receiving and market competition, and a very obvious decline in its offering & quality as a family park since the 80s - 90s. Attendance has dropped in its thousands since then.

I can't really see how a half-dead park having to close more rides than its opening them is an improvement, where its biggest draw is a Boomerang.

It needed to return to being a good, solid family park with its own flair. Going for teenage market with Hobs Pit and 'Pleasurewood Thrills' was never going to work really.
