2018: Park Operations & Ride Availability

That works if they count the numbers properly, often they don't so you end up front
I've always stayed further to the back, whilst everyone is shuffling right to the front. Much better view of the pre-show from there, and a slightly better chance of being seated further back of the train as you'll be last to exit the pre-show. :)

Park must be very busy today... Smiler already at 90 minutes and Thirteen at 65 minutes. Galactica and WM both unavailable. Other than that, queues are quite low. Let me rephrase that, actually; only two rides are unavailable, which is good, because it's better than nothing! Let's push that number to zero by the afternoon, Towers!

Your wish has been anwered! :)

Spinball Whizzer 15 mins
Enterprise 20 mins
Nemesis 30 mins
Galactica 35 mins
Oblivion 60 mins
Rita 60 mins
TH13TEEN 70 mins
The Smiler 90 mins
Wicker Man 90 mins

Considering fastrack packages sold out a few days ago it's a tactic that in the short term has worked.
As is typical this season, queues until around 1pm are pretty long - then they balance out.

Staggered openings to blame.

I haven't been on Wicker Man yet but I wouldn't queue for any of the thrill coasters with the exception of Oblivion currently on 10 minutes, because I don't think any of them are worth the queue times they have currently, as much as I enjoy them. Oblivion always seems to have the shortest queue for some reason.

Also, I just noticed that Th13teen dropped from 85 minutes to 20 minutes, how do these queue times actually work?

In short a combination of ble beacons and the app to automatically guess the time and set it with iPads used for staff to manually set the queue time based on their guesses.

I should say, I don't for one minute think there is actually a hidden agenda with regards to increasing FT sales. I just think it's a handy side effect for them, and will make it trickier to justify opening rides early/opening both stations on rides/increasing capacity, if FT sales are higher.

Of course, I have no idea on FT sales this year - as I know the quotas change year-on-year. I would hope the park have cut quotas given the loss of capacity on most rides.

Something also has to be said about the fact there are far fewer places to buy Fastrack, and I'm sure that will also be having an impact. If I was in Forbidden Valley or the Dark Forest, it would be a real trek to go back to Towers St for the sake of buying it.

On top of this, and for Fastrack or otherwise, the queues in the Box Office are inexcusable. The one time I have purchased Fastrack this year, I left the park to buy it from admissions. Given the Box Office is now virtually the only point of contact for customer service at the park, and the single point of sale for upgrades, season passes etc., I think the current situation is very poor, and I can't see how it could possibly be a smart business decision.

They should at least get smart and have contactless readers at ride entrances for fastrack

Mobile tickets you can present at the ride entrance on your phone would be a better place to start.

True but then that would have people like me abusing it due to horrendous security of most mobile ticketing solutions.
(Even arriva have repeatedly got it wrong).
