Oakwood Discussion

Only rides left standing are mega vertigo and skull rock speed has now left site so has treetops and the rest of the rides and I’m sorry to say mega is next
Thank you as always for the info.

I am actually really surprised that Skull Rock is still there to be honest. Have they not got any future plans for it?

Also do we know if any of the removed rides have been sold to other operators? Or are Aspro keeping all of them?

No rides have been sold aspro are using them in there European parks not sure of plans for the site as of yet but there isn’t much left now when I have some more info I will share

It’s just such a shame they didn’t even try and sell it and give it a chance under someone else’s ownership or give it a final hurrah for people to enjoy it before gutting it.

I haven’t set my expectations too high but I’m looking forward to seeing what the new owners do at PWH and Lightwater Valley.

Worth more as assets clearly.

Speed has arrived in France and have to say it’s looking in really bad condition:

I know that Walygator know it’s a second hand ride, but what on earth must they think when they see it turning up looking like that? 🤣
It's France's problem now...much like how Tornado from M&D's is now in France too.

I wonder where the Pinfari ended up...
I say probably as this point. Heard so many wretched things about it. Only thing that has it going for it is that it is another fallen relic from Camelot Theme Park, where it operated as The Sorcerer from 1995 to 1997, but other than that I say that it may be done...

Even the ride ops warned us 'its very rough mind, jump off if you don't want to get hurt.' it was painful, and made even the likes of hero seem smooth.

I wonder if Skull Rock, Witches Brew and Crocodile Coaster also get saved too, unless Aspro decide to also move them to their other parks. They are also Camelot veterans as well.

I think that this is a mad exaggeration from the ride ops to be fair. The ride was far from smooth but I’d say it was tolerable. It was however really unfortunate that Oakwood’s budget in the Aspro years was only ever allowed to extend past old Camelot and M&Ds cast-offs.

Has Aspro ever opened a park from ground-up? I’m going to assume not because there’s surely no way they’d be able to get an attraction going with their attitude towards investment. With Oakwood they were relying almost entirely on what the McNamaras had put in, this approach has a limited life span at theme parks. Theme parks are very different places to the water parks and aquariums that Aspro are more used to.
