Lightwater Valley

I weirdly wished they charged a bit more, which would have indicated a decent selection of new stuff. I do hope more is coming than the spinning coaster.

I would wonder longer term if the pricing model follows Fantasy island's in that it would maybe make sense when bigger rides are installed to have a price for thrill seekers and one for junior or senior 'adventurers.'

It would also make a helluva load of sense to have a multi park pass tied to Fantasy island, but whether they do or not is another story.

As we discussed before, I feel Mellors Group will eventually and definitely add a new major looping coaster to the park, either brand new or second hand. It is something that Lightwater Valley are majorly missing and would absolutely be groundbreaking for their lineup!! They have been missing a major looping coaster for over 30 years ever since Soopa Loopa left after the 1994 season.

The park under the original family ownership were very close to installing a Vekoma sit down looping roller coaster that was formerly known as Korkkiruuvi at Särkänniemi Amusement Park in Finland during late 2010 for the 2011 season which was put up sale after 2009. It would of had cost around £900,000 to ship to the United Kingdom and would of had been built on the former Go Karts site.

These plans were later changed when Loudoun Castle in Galston, Scotland permanently closed after September 2010, with all of its rides being put up for sale on the market. Then the plans and idea for Skeleton Cove later came about the following month instead for the former Go Karts site. Still I feel the park could of bought Twist and Shout (Schwarzkopf Silverarrow) around that time alongside even Barnstormer (S&S Double Shot Tower) among the other rides they ultimately bought from Loudoun Castle!!

I remember the talk of the ride well. It was seen as a shorter version of the corkscrew and in all truth pirate cove was probably the right idea.

The problem with LWV certainly over the last 15-20 years is it trod water and filled to stay relevant, and I don't think a coaster like that would have made much difference.

It probably should have invested in a northern IP like Horrible Histories or the Mr Men, with more than just a soft play area like the frankly underwhelming Angry Birds land provided.

If Mellors were to follow any sort of route, year one would probably need a coaster, tall ride, dark attraction and water ride, temporary or otherwise, year 2 another coaster, probably a family one like the mine train they own, year three an IP bolted onto rides they have, and the next couple of years invest in that area.

The biggest issue they are going to have is making people revisit, and much as I hate the idea of the bluey coaster or the paw patrol land, it's them that will bring the crowds more than any bigger profile ride.

Paultons is apparently the benchmark for what Mellors want to do, and thank god for that.

It's for sale now, or was a couple of months ago.

Is Lightwater Valley likely to impact Flamingo Lands performance
Flamingo land is a bit of a basket case. It is entirely powered by it's caravans, and not until LWV ever installs it's holiday village will it ever encroach on that.

Flamingo Land nearly went bust in the pandemic because of the cost of the zoo, and is seemingly having to re find it's feet.

In other news over the last year, the infamous Rocket Rollercoaster brought into the park by Brighton Pier Group in 2024 managed to be sold on by them to a park in Brazil... https://rcdb.com/6724.htm Honestly, how the hell did this get sold on judging by the absolute state of it nearly two years ago... From the looks of it, the new park got it completely refurbished hopefully. I mean, Kingda Ka got completely destroyed, but this lives on?? I don't get it.
