So after purchasing SimCity and playing it for almost 3 days straight, I can say that I really enjoy the game! The new features such as the 3D graphics, new data system, and trading etc. are great! The game is addictive if not more than the previous titles.
It does seem a lot more enjoyable I terms as watching your city grow and function. In SimCity 4, making a functioning city was great, but a little too difficult. Trying to get skyscrapers was a nightmare! The new 2013 SimCity makes it more playable for less experienced players and also improves on pretty much every aspect of the 4th instalment.
There are a few issues I do have with this game though, such as a fault I noticed with crime. After frequent protests and advice about crime levels, I expanded my police service to cover pretty much my whole city, adding extra car lots etc. But still there was crime, buildings were being abandoned because of crime rates, and the amount it was costing for the police service was taking up almost a quarter of my budget.
Population seems to be an issue too. Despite having covered pretty much the whole of the city in medium to high wealth skyscrapers, I was still being told to zone more residential to get more workers. I placed schools and even with enough buss stops the schools were not being attended as much ad they should.
These are just two issues I have with the game, they cannot be right, and I do hope EA pick up on this and release patches to fix them. (Unless I am wrong in thinking that more floor space equals more people and that police stations every few blocks is enough)
Anyway, rant over! For the most part I really do love this game, I've been finding it hard to tear myself away from the computer! Maxis have done for the most part a great job on this re-boot of the SimCity series. Ignoring the issues the game had on release, it is now very much playable and enjoyable and I would recommend it to anyone who like city builders or strategy games. Theres something for everyone in this game!
So that's my review of the game. Anyone have any thoughts on this game?
