Simcity (2013)

Gotta be Oblivion tbh!
So after purchasing SimCity and playing it for almost 3 days straight, I can say that I really enjoy the game! The new features such as the 3D graphics, new data system, and trading etc. are great! The game is addictive if not more than the previous titles.

It does seem a lot more enjoyable I terms as watching your city grow and function. In SimCity 4, making a functioning city was great, but a little too difficult. Trying to get skyscrapers was a nightmare! The new 2013 SimCity makes it more playable for less experienced players and also improves on pretty much every aspect of the 4th instalment.

There are a few issues I do have with this game though, such as a fault I noticed with crime. After frequent protests and advice about crime levels, I expanded my police service to cover pretty much my whole city, adding extra car lots etc. But still there was crime, buildings were being abandoned because of crime rates, and the amount it was costing for the police service was taking up almost a quarter of my budget.
Population seems to be an issue too. Despite having covered pretty much the whole of the city in medium to high wealth skyscrapers, I was still being told to zone more residential to get more workers. I placed schools and even with enough buss stops the schools were not being attended as much ad they should.
These are just two issues I have with the game, they cannot be right, and I do hope EA pick up on this and release patches to fix them. (Unless I am wrong in thinking that more floor space equals more people and that police stations every few blocks is enough)

Anyway, rant over! For the most part I really do love this game, I've been finding it hard to tear myself away from the computer! Maxis have done for the most part a great job on this re-boot of the SimCity series. Ignoring the issues the game had on release, it is now very much playable and enjoyable and I would recommend it to anyone who like city builders or strategy games. Theres something for everyone in this game!

So that's my review of the game. Anyone have any thoughts on this game?

:)

Not sure how true this is, but was told that the game, like with previous versions, was made to always say your doing something wrong in order to keep you playing it. Its a bit like how cityXL will tell you to build more houses and as soon as you do it will moan saying you need more residents to fill those houses.

There are massive bugs with Public Services right now, Maxis are working on fixing it and that should come in the next update, unless that was fixed in Update 2.0 which came out today.

If so try that out, should fix the Police issues!

It's a great game from what I've seen, just haven't had the spare cash to pick it up yet :p

Its a good game plagued with ea's money whoring and ultimately suffers for it..

Sorry if this doesn't make sense... I'm drunk...

At 2:00PM?! Madman!

EA are a business at the end of the day, they want to make money, it's just a shame their games suffer from it. Simcity didn't suffer 'too' badly, It's just the online mechanic wasn't thought through and as such the gameplay suffered.

2AM as that's a 24 hour clock and 2PM would be 14:00 ;)

Anyway, to post something on topic. I think this game looks really fun and addicting. Although I can't play it for a while as a doubt my Laptop would run it :(

It's an awesome game, so much better than the others.

It's still got a lot of bugs in it tho, it's endlessly being updated so hopefully it'll be sorted soon.

I don't really play the multiplayer as it isn't as good as they made it out to be. I prefer to play on my own anyway.

If you get it be prepared to have no life at all for about a week after. 10 hours can fly by playing sim city.

haha! That's completely true! I've spent the past 5 days playing SimCity for at least two thirds of the day! I think I might take a break from it now though. I need a life!

;)

I am basically having to take some time off from playing the new SimCity because I seem to have lost several days of my life to it somewhere along the line. I really enjoy it but APPARENTLY there's this thing called "outside" and I'm supposed to go there at some point...

We should create a region just for this forum, make it invite only.

I'm away from my computer at the moment so I can't remember my origin name, ill post it later when i can.

So...who wants to create the new region? We could call the region alton towers and have all the cities named after rides/areas

Stop me if I'm taking this too far ha ha

Sounds a good idea! My origin name is georgemarshy so feel free to add me. Yes I'd love to create a region named after AT areas, sounds great!

;)

If I was ever to buy SimCity, I would create a city in your region called Merlin and my ultimate purpose is to create a massive industrial empire spewing pollution and disease to all the happy nearby city's while making a tonne of cash.

;)

My name is davewazere85 I'm at work at the mo so can't get access to origin but ill accept when I get home.

What region should we start? Sandbox or normal?

Sandbox can be good as it is a lot quicker to get your city going and everything is unlocked, normal is harder and takes a lot longer to get going (10 hours at least to get a decent sized city going)

Normal, where's the fun in Sandbox.

I think we all need to make sure we are on the same Server as well.

Europe West 3 server?

Anyone else who wants to join a region, please post your username!

:)

Simple, IanBassi for me.

EU West 3 is a change of server for me, but will try and get on tonight, and have a play :)

Does anyone else fancy joining a private Region on Europe West 6.
It's called TST Region (I hope Joel doesn't mind) and its the Horizon Archipelago region map.
There are 11 cities and 3 great works.

Please place your Orign usernames below to sign up.
I will add your names to the list. Add you as friends and invite you to the region. The region is now live.

1.) JGamingHD - Me (Region Owner)
2.) Davewazere

Please sign up to the region. It would be really fun and we could even end up being one of the best in the world. :)
