Scarefest 2025
Wasn't 2002 the only year that the maze (TOTT) was mostly outsourced? Guess they did that to get a grounding and after the setup was there, they took it in house. 2003 was produced in house, directed by Jamie Greaves and another bloke IIRC. They were lovely in helping find me the music for that...- LLCorkscrew

Future Flat Ride Speculation
A Huss Breakdance would be bloody amazing. I think it could work in X Sector. Only problem is - if Merlin do their usual of operating flats on the tame settings - then it'd be no fun. They (Towers, at the time ran by Tussauds), largely operated Dynamo on bog-standard boring settings, but on...- LLCorkscrew

Scarefest 2024
This is great news! If it's as intense as sone are saying, it's the maze we have waited a few years for!- LLCorkscrew

Scarefest 2024
Walked up near The Compound today, loud music pumping (quite a fast tempo), and I saw strobes too. Hopefully it's an intense maze!- LLCorkscrew

Planet Coaster 2: General Discussion
Geeky one here, but I hope guest expectations regarding queue times are more realistic, none of that leaving the queue after 7 minutes cos it's too long. I would also like to be able to run rides on test mode without it clearing the queue. And ride op controls would be ace. Finally, in terms...- LLCorkscrew

In The Hall Of The Mountain King
Hmm some good theories here. I did ask an ex employee who would have been involved in this sort of thing back in the early 90's, and they couldn't 100% remember, but they thought that - after Nick Varney was appointed as Marketing Manager - the park contracted an advertising agency to help...- LLCorkscrew

Scarefest 2024
Great post, Matt! This part had me laughing out loud. I personally love the Mine Tours and I'd put it up there as one of my top 3 Towers' mazes ever, so I'm happy it's back and I think it's still the one I enjoy most, but I do get people's frustrations with its return. I am really...- LLCorkscrew

Scarefest 2024
I thought the other day - one of the few themes that they haven't yet explored in any of their Halloween attractions is this Mexican Day of the Dead type theme. As Taypru said, the one at Port Adventura works pretty well, although I do think this theme is more suited to a family audience, so I...- LLCorkscrew

[2025] Toxicator: New Forbidden Valley Suspended Top Spin
A breakdance would be 🤤 I'd love to see that at Towers, perhaps with two queues, one for families, and one for thrillseekers, and they alternate the cycles.- LLCorkscrew

Planning applications for new Scarefest maze locations
This sounds very promising - Scarefest desperately needs investment and 3 new mazes, with at least two to depart. Contrary to some people's opinion, I'd rather they have a couple of mazes in the towers, purely for the unique setting and the atmosphere generated around the Towers. A strong...- LLCorkscrew

Nemesis Reborn: General Discussion
I went today for the first time this season. I did the OG 500+ times, and it has always been my favourite coaster, so I was worried about Reborn. I rode it twice - rows' 2 and 7. Beforehand, I was actually more apprehensive about the 'experience' elements like the colour scheme, the re-brand...- LLCorkscrew

Gutted about the front row... why have they removed that!? I know people love the back row, but I LOVED front-row Nemesis, was a brilliant experience and well worth the extra 20 mins.- LLCorkscrew

Yes, in the 90's and early-to-mid noughties, the photo was taken before and after the corkscrew. Before for the two seats on the left, and after for the two seats on the right.- LLCorkscrew

The Alton Towers Music, Video and Other Multimedia Thread
Well done to Alton and IMA! I know most of these tracks were on the CD, but it's a big step in the right direction and it's great to see. Would love to see them release full versions at some point for e.g., the Towers Street Scarefest track.- LLCorkscrew

2024: General Discussion
I was hoping for something music-related too. It'd be brilliant if the new management were to push through a digital store with music, etc. It's not a big money maker, but it's the combination of the little steps that help to enhance a business, brand, and engagement, and there is a market for...- LLCorkscrew

[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation
I remember back in the early noughties when - during XRT - one of the ops would frequently dispatch the second train when the first had just passed the vertical loop. Usually the first 15-20 mins of XRT when trains would be 1/4 full - those were the days! DistortAMG is right though, as long as...- LLCorkscrew

Scarefest 2023
Completely agree with you. I know people want more events, but most of them are substandard. Stick to Scarefest, Fireworks, Christmas and Oktoberfest, and bin the rest, at least until the funding and resource is there to properly invest. It's not just the spread of funding, but it also means...- LLCorkscrew

Scarefest 2023
What a disappointment. I've just realised something, and I'm speculating here, but Towers possibly get a budget for all special events combined, and since the introduction of the numerous events, e.g., the Summer one, Oktoberfest (which is a decent event), Scarefest has been poor / low Capex...- LLCorkscrew

Scarefest 2023
The timing of announcing the line-up is a difficult one. On the one hand, I understand the philosophy behind announcing it relatively close to October because it means the other events get the airtime (Oktoberfest). On the other hand, those of us who are booking for a few people to go somewhere...- LLCorkscrew
