As far as I know, Pleasure Beach are pressing ahead with all their pre-season work as if the park was opening on schedule so that they're in a position to open as soon as they're able to do so.
The Big One's new track will be in place before the new season starts, I'm confident of that, just...
It was closed in 2008 during the cost cutting measures, 10 attractions including rides and shows were closed at the end of that season. Speak to anyone who worked at BPB at that time and they'll tell you how much the park was concerned about never being able to open again thanks to the recession...
Wind direction on Saturday was Southerly, wind direction on Sunday was Westerly, it makes a massive difference with the operation of the rides.
ICON has been known to roll back on a day when the winds have been as strong from the west as they were on Sunday.
Big Dipper had all its running...
The Big One retrack is complete, testing is likely to start in the next couple of days but I think they need to build a new evac platform first.
They're pretty confident (weather permitting) it'll be ready for opening day.
Avalanche still has four trains, three are operational and one is usually being worked on throughout the season. Two trains is the maximum they’ll run with whilst open as you all probably know.
I believe there was plans to retrack a lot more of the Big One this winter, but more of it is scheduled to be done next winter to carry on what they’ve started recently. This is the first retrack Big One has had since 2008, there’s been little bits of repair work done on track sections since but...
ICON's issues have been resolved as far as I am aware.
Pleasure Beach know they had a bad opening weekend, they've worked extremely hard this week to try and avoid any repeat issues this weekend.
What if those enthusiasts have travelled 3/4/5 hours for their annual visit to the Pleasure Beach, what choice do they have if they want to ride the Big One? Personally, I wouldn't queue anything over 45 minutes if I can help it, if I know it'll be on one train and I can arrive at the park for...
May I suggest you watch the Alton Towers video from mid March last year when half the park was closed, but we praised the staff for their efforts and hyped the Wicker Man throughout despite endless waiting through its downtime?
Surprised by these comments to be honest, if you watch the vlog through to the end we gave an honest assessment about the Pleasure Beach's performance. If you watched the vlog with sound on, you'll know we were covering the changes around the park, as well as looking at the new merchandise, the...
The midweek closures shouldn't be a surprise, this was something they used to do every season anyway and it makes sense given how quiet it is on those days. I've known about the opening times for next year since November and at the time of finding out, my reaction is the same as it is now, it's...
Anything other than a coaster replacing the Bowl-a-Drome is a huge waste, taking into account the space it'd leave behind, the car park behind it, the empty space left by the Mouse and Trauma Towers is a huge amount of space, especially if they do end up getting rid of the 'FY4 catering' area as...
The Grand National isn't getting the RMC makeover which is being rumoured, Pleasure Beach's social media team were having a bit of banter with us which is no different to what Thorpe's social media team do with Thorpe's fans throughout the closed season.
I honestly don't think Pleasure Beach...
I am pretty confident we'll not be seeing Love Island Lates returning to Thorpe next year, sadly I don't think we'll be seeing a coaster for the next few years either.
I'd love to see Loggers Leap refurbished and returned to the lineup but as each year passes it seems unlikely.
Renewed my pass, makes sense even if I was only to visit during PBE event weekenders.
I got great value out of my pass as ever, in truth I broke even on it by mid March, not sure I'll visit as much in the early months of 2019 though given there'll be no construction updates to cover.
Pleasure Beach isn’t for sale and won’t be bought by Mack.
Catering needs to improve, this has been the case for a very long time, I’ve rarely eaten at the park this year instead opting for a nicer, cheaper and quicker alternative a few minutes away, the Velvet Coaster.
I no longer visit BPB...
Intamin Vice-President Sascha Czibulka and Ride Designer Camiel Bilsen spoke with me at the recent IAAPA European Attractions Show, in Amsterdam. I spoke to Sascha and Camiel about Taiga at Linnanmäki as well as launch coasters in general and how the technology of those has evolved over time;
