Lore and Stories given to rides: A benefit or a detriment?

Theme Parks are really unique, in that unlike film, theatre, books and TV, each area and attraction generally portrays one moment in time, in one physical space, all day, every day. And for me, that makes excessive explicit lore and backstory, and exposition and explanation, a real waste of the...

    Potential New Universal UK Park

When it comes to Merlin's Theme Park Resort division, or it's European Legoland Theme Park division, who are the other competitors? No Merlin resort theme park has a world class theme park closer than a 6 hour drive. Now half of them will potentially have one within 2 hours. Operated by a...

Food & Beverage: The Aramark Era begins

It's a clever short term strategy. But "saving money on days out" and "making the most of your theme park trip" discourse is RIFE in the UK. Word will spread. Blogs will be written. Facebook groups will start. The 'trick' won't last long.

Food & Beverage: The Aramark Era begins

Have you just revealed a hack for reasonably priced, edible food options on park? And a major reason why it's better is because they're operating a complimentary food and beverage business inside a theme park. This isn't a food court, they're not selling burgers, or hot dogs - they're selling...

    Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 2024 Discussion

It's just the thought of what's being sold being.. "Come ogle at, take photos with, and dream of possessing and being inside one of these objects" ..and that not just being about the supercars... ...at a closing celebration, in the early evening, for a ride I've never ridden without a child...

    Alton Towers by Train?

Oh no for sure the CVR might extend in the future towards Oakamoor, but that's never going to have any impact on Alton Towers and wouldn't provide anything suitable to provide connections for guests to the park. The CVR wouldn't be able to capitalise on providing access to the park, and...

    Alton Towers by Train?

100 years ago a visitor attraction in the middle of nowhere wouldn't have thrived without public transit connections of some sort. Now they can and do, because of the car. The steps needed to build a railway that would be in any way useful to Alton Towers aren't small, easy things to do. -...

    Optimised solo visit

There'll be plenty of responses to this with more detail than mine, but if you are going to the park for particular rides, get on them relatively early on is my advice. And then optimise your trip beyond that first goal. There's nothing worse than a ride going down for the rest of the day and...

    Alton Towers by Train?

The Stoke to Leek line never really gets closer to Alton Towers than Uttoxeter, Longton, Blythe Bridge or at a push, Stoke station itself, all existing stations.

    Potential New Universal UK Park

The Disney element is a barrier, 100%. But I don't think "the series is dying" is relevant, without even exploring how true or not that statement is. Is the performance of The Rings of Power the only reason you could imagine a Middle Earth area being successful? Are the viewing figures of...

[2024] Thorpe Park: Hyperia - Mack Hypercoaster

There will always be a proportion of people that think a ride looks too intense, too nauseating, or not safe enough. I don't think Thorpe are going to struggle to attract guests or fill the queueline with Hyperia. A sense that Hyperia is only for the fearless is free marketing.

[2024] Thorpe Park: Hyperia - Mack Hypercoaster

That's what I was imagining, or something like this... ...but, you know, a rollercoaster train shell not just a natty little outfit you'd find me in on a Saturday night

[2024] Thorpe Park: Hyperia - Mack Hypercoaster

Personally I think it's fugly. It isn't to my taste. I would have preferred a different design. It appears cheap and a bit tacky to me. (Bolded words to try and avoid people getting upset about differing opinions)

    Disneyland Paris: General Discussion

I have a preference for which theme they choose, but I'd just be immensely happy if they just chose one, and the outside and inside match. Jules Verne wasn't a Jedi.

    Potential New Universal UK Park

I think people need to understand that 40% doesn't mean a 40% chance that they personally would get the train to Universal Studios UK. It just isn't doable with rail infrastructure as fragmented and expensive as ours. It's probable that a majority won't find it sensible to catch the train...
