[2024] Thorpe Park: Hyperia - Mack Hypercoaster

Yeah but RMC made it more of a 'thing' and do it on every ride. Especially with tilted track. They definitely pushed boundaries with other elements and other manufacturers have followed their lead. Outer-banked airtime, sideways airtime, wave turns, stalls etc. Not sure Mack would have built...

[2024] Thorpe Park: Hyperia - Mack Hypercoaster

Yeah it's a very RMC thing. They've given the coaster industry a real kick up the arse tbf, all the modern Macks and Intamins have benefitted from their innovations.

Which of these UK solo trips sounds best?

Don't be put off by "chavvy" places - they can be the most fun. There are plenty of rough parts in this country but in general you'll only find trouble if you look for it. And most people are friendly and welcoming. I was bombing around dumps like Brixton and Hayes on my BMX with no brakes or...

The first test run was ok I guess but how cool is this?! Bloke builds Knex Hyperia -

[2024] Thorpe Park: Hyperia - Mack Hypercoaster

It's worth noting how slowly it crests the top of the lift hill. I'd imagine that's just for initial test purposes. Once the chain's running at full speed it will take the layout at a quicker pace. That splashdown trim looks a bit of a bugger though, hopefully they tweak that so we get some...

Which of these UK solo trips sounds best?

It you're old enough to be concerned about looking a bit dodgy at Legoland on your own, then you're old enough to go to Southend by train on your own.

[2024] Thorpe Park: Hyperia - Mack Hypercoaster

Yeah looks like it could be on. Blue skies and a light breeze now. In fairness I was looking out the window, not the forecast. Could be carnage again in 10 mins. Edit: regarding the max wind speed for testing, I'd imagine they will want to proceed with caution. Wouldn't be ideal if it...

[2024] Thorpe Park: Hyperia - Mack Hypercoaster

Also there's a film crew on site, and John Burton is there apparently (maybe with an air rifle shooting down drones). Looks like it was planned to test at least. It's still mega windy down here with no signs of slowing down.

I'd love to do that to half the Chelsea team tbf.

I think they've ballsed up the image edit. Surely they're supposed to be more gold than Transformer yellow?

Must admit I'm no expert when it comes to muddy lakes. Is it a case of draining it and refilling with clear water? Can they filter the mud out? Or is it always going to look like Shreks swamp?

Looking at some of those travel times, you'd be better off getting the Eurostar to Paris and heading to Asterix. Can get good deals if you're flexible on dates.

    Rollercoaster Tycoon is 25

Planet Coaster is excellent but RCT2 was the best coaster game ever made. And the full game is still available on Android/iPhones as RCT Classic. Works surprisingly well on a small screen and great for long flights.

    Heidi/Hansa vs Parque Attractiones/WB Madrid?

Hansa Park is a typical charming German regional park. Karnan is world class and the supporting cast are good too. Heide Park has lots of coasters but none of them are particularly good apart from Colossos. It feels like Merlin don't give the place a lot of love. I've done both via trains...

    Walibi Belgium: General Discussion

No it's a bit isolated and I couldn't get close enough to see if it had the vest restraints. Didn't risk it 😂 Done the Boomerang which was bad enough. The rapids was really good too if you don't mind a soaking.

    Parc Astérix: General Discussion

Managed to get on Toutatis yesterday after it was closed all day on my visit last year. Wow. Is it me or is this a bit underhyped? I barely hear it mentioned anymore and no one seems to rave about it like Velolicoaster for example. It's an easy top 10 coaster for me and could well be the...

    Walibi Belgium: General Discussion

Visited this park for the first time on Saturday and was very impressed. Was the first day of the season but operations were superb and we got on everything. It rained on and off all day which seemed to have put the crowds off as we never waited more than 10 mins for anything. A quick summary of...

Luton have been punching above their weight tbf. Their squad is mid table championship standard but they seem to get results through sheer willpower and spirit. Unfortunately they've had no luck with injuries in recent weeks and look nailed on to go down with their upcoming fixtures.
