I can't imagine a Derren Brown themed attraction being having a space-esque name, and a space theme would be sensible and fit Air well. :)
 
Galactica is the new Air name. I have overheard two staff members talking about it and how they think it is a really pants name. I'm going to miss Air. Anyone fancy a ride at fireworks dressed in "R.I.P Air" Shirts?

I loved all of Airs marketing and I quite like the brand even if it isn't the strongest one on park. Shame it looks like all of that will be removed next year.

Ah well. I remain optimistic at the moment. Although if Europa cannot work VR well I'm worried how Merlin will cope with it. Time will tell as they say.
 
It's also a shame that they're replacing the gates in the station with doors, so that you can't watch the trains being lifted into the flying position. (I know that's a bit nerdy, but I've always enjoyed watching it work). The only way they could make this project worse is if they turned the trains to run backwards.
 
I find it somewhat ironic that not long ago, we were all debating about if Smiler was going to get renamed/rethemed or not, then suddenly from out of nowhere, Air (maybe) get's a new name and theme job suddenly.

I would find it even more hilariously ironic if Merlin/ATR will spend god knows how much money on the VR tech and theme job, only for them not to spend a penny on getting the track or tunnel painted, which personally I think the track needs to be looked at more than the tunnel itself! :eek:
 
I'm gonna miss Air hugely if this is true. I love the music, the blue lights when you "Prepare for Air", and I have so so so many memories of years gone by waiting to go on this ride. I loved the adverts, I loved the way it made me feel the first time I went on it and how it was to ride on a summers evening. Galactica , if that is the real name, is just utterly pants.
 
Never really thought the theme was that strong anyway and won't miss it too much. The writing was on the wall when all the merch got discounted months ago. That just wouldn't happen for no reason. At best it will keep Air as its name or part of it, but most likely will be a new name and theme entirely. Maybe the new theme could have some continuity with whatever large investment next gets built over there, as in the next SW possibly.
 
I'm just hoping that this space theme, and sw8's theme doesn't dominate forbidden valley as nemesis currently does. Currently, 4 out of 5 rides in FV revolve around nemesis's theme (nemesis, blade, ripsaw, sub terra), but with 3 of them looking like they don't have too long left, and another ride in the area looking set to have a retheme, and another ride planned to be built, FV May be overwhelmed by a space theme. I'm hopeing that some decent and reliable flats will be added with a nemesis theme if they must remove any.

How Do you know this? He has said that he would come out of retirement for a wooden coaster. Even then, they may call it sw8 anyway. There are other coaster designers who can design very good rides too.
