The TLC is really starting to my head in to be honest, its just becoming an excuse for Towers to justify closing everything. For example, this tweet today from Towers:

@michaeltruefitt The Towers are currently closed for refurbishment, for our Towers Love and Care programme, we will keep you up to date.

Utter, utter, utter nonsense. They are not doing anything in the towers, no refurbishment, they are closed every season, probably the real reason being they have no staff to go inside and check the state of everything, and also because Towers probably feel there are H&S risks inside and they need more fences.

Ask them about why anything is closed in the park now and you get the reply its because of the TLC programme!!!!!

I assumed the Towers were closed as nobody bothered to go in and remove the Scare Mazes after Scarefest last year.

The towers have been open on most of the occasions I've visited.
The only time they have been closed was last Saturday

Towers were open on the first day of the season so they have already been open this year

Yeah, Scarefest crew commandeered the Towers several years ago and it seems like it's their little play thing nowadays. It started to get really bad when they completely closed off the Music Room & Poets Bay around 4-5 years ago (or something like that) so that they could leave all their trash in there after they'd finished with it for Scarefest. Previously, that area had always been open year round. Then things continued to get worse where the Towers would get completely closed earlier and earlier in the season each year due to Scarefest preparation. You're lucky if it's open for over a month in a season these days. For all I care, they can discontinue any scaremazing in the Towers permanently and shift their rubbish out of there onto the lawn and have a ceremonial burning of it all and dump the ashes into the lake. BURN BURN BURN.

We managed to get in the Towers the 2nd week of opening. It was open from the conservatories and it was surprising how many people were in there having a mutch around. Didnt see any scarefest stuff whatsoever. I think its just an excuse to close them to prevent any wear and tear (in other words, means Towers dont have to spend money on the ruins)

Don't the towers have to be open for x amount of time over the year, according to English Heritage?

I did write them a letter (Email) about it last year, I think I also shared it on the forum. English Heritage never got back to me, and me being me, I never got around to following it up :)

It's odd as people said they have been open. I didn't venture to the towers for opening weekend, but on all my other visits this season they have been closed completely. Certainly last Friday and this week they were blocked off at the archway to the gardens and also at the other end near fried chicken co.

Last season they opened in April and were closed when the Smiler crashed in June.

Depends what you enjoy. If you like looking at ruined bricks with a hint of once-grand carvings left on them here and there, they are great. If not, then there's not much else to see, other than the view from the roof.

It helps if you do some background reading on the history of the different sections of the house, how they once looked, and what the different rooms were used for etc. Once you have a good understanding of that, it makes a stroll around the ruins a lot more interesting. I suppose it helps to have at least a small interest in history to begin with. Otherwise, you're just wandering around a big ruined house pretty much for no apparent reason. A bit of imagination and understanding is required really :)

They've added a ticker onto the website informing visitors which days the park will be open or not and opening times:

At least it's a bit more clear on the website. Shame it isn't clear on the mobile site!

Maybe next they'll get around to being more obvious which rides are closed undergoing Towers Loving Care or Towers Generic Closure.

Thanks. As I love going round old castles, will try and see the towers. Good tip about reading up first - I didn't know if there were information boards etc.

(Pssst! Pro tip: Some people have been known to get tetchy when you refer to the Towers as a "castle". It's a victorian stately home made to look like a castle. But of course, you already knew this... ;) )

Sadly there is very little in the way of info boards inside them. I think one or two of the rooms have a name plaque at best?
