I disagree to whoever said the public dont care about the crash. You just have to speak to people on the street, in work, or read social media to see a lot of people still refuse to visit due to the crash.

As for selling land - well, the entire UK will soon be concreted over the rate green spaces are being consumed by greedy housing developers, makes me wonder how long it will be before the lawns infront of the Towers are sold to Persimmon homes (other housing developers are available) and 350 houses are built there. ;)

If it was still a theme park that would be a pretty good thing for some people!

I'm surprised Merlin haven't unloaded Warwick Castle to be honest, take away the secondary attractions like The Dungeon or the glamping site then I struggle to see how they make money from the castle itself, when I went a while back the tour guide mentioned all the admission fees go back to castle and Merlin don't see any of it. Be surprised if that's completely true

Isn't the castle owned by Leslau? It's the same buy and lease back deal Merlin did with Towers and Thorpe, so I doubt that tour guide knew what he was talking about, most Merlin employees don't even know who Leslau is let alone that he and not Merlin owns the ground they're standing on.

The tour guide exact words when someone asked him was all the money from admissions goes back to the castle so I guess the money they get through addmissions pays for the upkeep

Has anyone looked at the alton towers homepage? Is there a theme park? Or is it just Cbeebies Land, Cbeebies hotel? And last minute hotel rooms. They must be desperate now trying to sell these rooms! ! What bright spark went into the board room and said lets build another hotel and people will be rushing to stay in a Cbeebies themed world (just like a Disney hotel) Opps he or she will have a few questions to answer at their performance review.

Pretty sure the new style website has always had a huge picture of the latest accommodation on the homepage - used to be the Enchanted Village for quite a while.

Regardless, I think we can all agree the Alton Towers website is stil a disaster. It's awful, and had been for some time.

Generally though, theme parks do not have good websites. I don't know what it is but they just don't seem to keep up with the times or make navigation easy.

The website Towers have got now probably would have looked great in 1999!

Too much javascript in Merlin websites, not to mention all the big brother twitter/facebook/instawhatever crap, my dad was trying to book the hotel yesterday and gave up after 3 hours and phoned them instead.

The best one is the legoland qbot website, it's aimed at the mobile phone market but is written entirely in Javascript, a language most mobiles used to disable by default because of it's numerous security flaws

Thorpe's site is the worst, sooooo many overlay layers.

Probably the same bright spark that decides to price hotel rooms in the middle of the Staffordshire countryside at £160 per night on weekdays...

So now I've seen on Facebook the removal of water guns and the waterfalls on River Rapids.

Just when you thought the Health & Safety idiots at Towers couldn't get any worse, they trump themselves yet again.
Girl stands up on rapids and dies. Remove one of the areas of the ride that forces folk to stand up... makes sense to me.

Maybe Merlin are putting guest safety over quids.... OMFG etc.

This is why you have to play the game...

Here's a few of the changes to the rapids, I believe some maybe temporary until more details of how the incident at Drayton happened.

- New signs in boats telling you to remain seated and not to change seats.
- Staff dotted around the ride
- Removal of water guns
- Waterfalls off
- Lots of new life aids around the ride
- and they were certainly playing the remain seated and information announcements a lot more

And now they have another problem making sure all the rides that run on windoze are not connected to a network until they've been patched or they should be anyway... just in case some moron on the same network get's their pc infected.

Could you imagine the fallout if one of the rides control systems was hit by ransomware because it was remotely infected by someone getting their PC infected up in the Hotel or something?
