I think this confirms that there will be a chain lift:

Don't give up yet...it could still be a launch with the magnets on some sort of conveyor linked to this wheel pulling the train up the hillI think this confirms that there will be a chain lift:

In my opinion, the rockwork almost looks like some sort of temple facade, similar to a smaller Skull Island: Reign of Kong at Universal. I doubt we'll get anything on quite that scale, but one can hope! The scaffolding is coming down around the 'rockwork'. I agree, and as I posted in the Chessington thread about Tiger Rock, I think that we could see a new level of theming from Merlin Entertainments in the future.Wow that wall looks fantastic! Credit where credit is due; time, thought and effort has clearly been put in here.

P.S. So sorry for double posting! Could a mod please merge my two posts if they don't mind? Thank you!
Wow that tunnel looks like it could hide something interesting, I do, however, take issue with it looking like the knee high wall at my local pub, it will be hard to unsee that.

It looks great!

Seems they have learned at least some lessons....marketing aside.

Marketing wise I don’t think things are that strange at the moment. They are clearly moving away from the worlds first tag lines, sure the word “world” is still there but comparing your ride to the rest of the world is pretty much what all parks do.
There is clearly some reticence to making a big deal out of it being a roller coaster but considering this is the first year the park seems to be getting back on its feet i’m not surprised they are taking things slowly.
As for the theming, glad we are seeing quality coming through, I am not yet fully sold on the whole package (dark theme on family ride) but we look to be getting a solid coaster with solid theming.

Now that the scaffolding has been removed, that whole side of the site doesn't look as bad as I feared actually. I was worried that it would garishly clash with the Katanga Canyon pathway. Only time will tell if it will or not but it looks less obtrusive now than I originally imagined.
It may just about get away with being in Mutiny Bay as well. I'd still want some sort of pirate theming to finish off what I've always thought the area needed, but realistically we'll probably have to settle for the next best thing in that the theme doesnt clash too much with the area. Not sure about the theming structure and green cladded station building but at least the rock work and landscaping should blend in with the area nicely.

Over the past few weeks there is a couple of things that I've notice about the structure. It has a service ladder inside which indicates that there will be more to the structure than meets the eye. Maybe to service some form of special effects? The other thing I've also notice that is strange, and maybe I'm looking too much into it. The track entering the structure has not been built and comes to a sudden stop? Is there something that we don't know like a gimmick (worlds first) or have they just delayed adding the joining track at the moment? From a construction point of view, to join a new section without staggering the wood (if you get what I mean) is not the strongest way to do it, unless there is something that we don't know?

Apologies if I have already posted this idea, can't remember if I have or not! However I would not object to a re-name and very minor re-theme of Mutiny Bay next year. The area could become Alton Harbour, which has been mentioned in the description of The Welcoming. Pretty much all of the existing rides, buildings and theming would fit in with this theme and SW8 would fit without need any sort of pirate narrative. I just feel it would really bring everything together for a very low cost.

I think there will almost certainly be effects on the theming object and fire has been rumoured for quite a while. Fire is clearly a big aspect of the theme so it would make sense to have some fire effects somewhere. As for the track that has not been completed, I'd imagine this is just a logistical thing, either that or we've got ourselves the worlds first track hopping rollercoaster!

Forgive me saying this but it doesn't quite have the same, erm, ring to it as Mutany Bay does it, yarrrrr me hearties

You are not alone with noticing this, I saw it yesterday and thought it was a bit odd as well. Maybe its the worlds first coaster where it leaves the track, leaps through the structure and lands back on the other side - dukes of hazzard styleeee.
Either that or (boring sensible head on), they couldn't build the track due to H&S concerns while the big metal thing with the food warmer on its head was built.

No, but does it need to? I would rather an area with a cohesive theme that works than one with a slightly more funky theme but is a little all over the place. I think Alton Harbour fits the area and the park rather well!

I really like the Alton Harbour idea, as although I'm not sure the name sounds the most exciting. I think if SW8 is going to have the 'Wickerman style' and stay in tune with Mutiny Bay then there needs to be an adjustment to the area.
I've suggested somewhere else on the forum (possibly this thread) about a rename to "Mutiny Mooring." Which would combine the pirate theme with the harbour idea.
