To me. Seeing as memes are usually made out of photos. Meme your scream very quickly suggests to me, take photos of you enjoying yourself on the rides. Obviously that is not the case and is strictly prohibited and that is obviously not the intention of the slogan.... Even more a face palm moment then in that case.
 
There was really no need for a several day build up to that. Just makes them look pathetic. Does the work experience kid pass another module for this 'campaign'?

Like the way they didn't feature Wickerman in their silly video. I can just see marketing shouting over to the video editing guy, "don't feature any rides that are broke!"

They really need to up their game.

I understand what they are trying to do, get more people posting images and getting them all over social media in an attempt to increase the visitor count and in return offer very little in return (essentially free for them). But still even someone with a little bit of photoshop experience could make better graphics than that.

The marketing team rob a living because if they were ANYWHERE else they would of been let go a long time ago

I did better competitions for a refrigeration company than AT have done in the past few years
 
Meme Your Scream? Yet more evidence that the Alton Towers marketing department is being run by 12 year olds. It sounds horrible and the idea is, in my opinion, horrible. Can you imagine other leading theme parks in Europe running such a campaign?

I also cannot wait to see how many people think this means that they can take selfies on rides to create the best meme.
 
The power of the towers sounded so promising,

I was expecting big events, live stunts, real changes to the park and a good backstory.

Something along the lines of a secret lying deep beneath the ground, the Nemesis has evolved, taking its energy from the elements and becoming more powerful than ever. Now it controls everything in its path and has become the most powerful creature on the planet.

All kneel before it's power, can we finally tame the beast?

Tv and socal ads of tv reports of the nemesis becoming more powerful.
Really push for scarefest and promote the drop into nothingness on the oblivion
great events throughout the year with new merch and just upping their game

instead the marketing dept went

"people like memes. People like to scream. What if we make memes of their screams"

Personally, I can imagine lots of miserable selfies of people stood outside a defunk Wickerman.

I think AT should at least make an announcement on their social media feeds to tell people what is up with the ride and when it "may" reopen just so people go there knowing its closed, or changing their plans to go when it may be open instead. If its closed for more than a few days then its only fair ...
 
I think its coming from near the top. Sat at work i have had 5-10 ideas better than meme your scream

but I reckon someone who probably isn't marketing is throwing stuff in and saying "run with that"

Should they? I'm not sure I've ever seen a park announce on social media that a ride is down for a period of time (other than a new ride perhaps). I'm sure someone can find an example of it happening somewhere but I would not expect a park to promote downtime. Skyrush is the standout attraction at Hersheypark and was down for quite a while earlier in the season. Did they promote this fact on social media? Of course not!

I do think they could put a note on their website if a major ride is going to be down for a number of days/weeks. It does not look like they have done this.

I'm sure AT did it in the past ....... I think it was for Thirteen when it had that period of downtime not long after it opened....
