2019: General Discussion
Nothing says 'escapism' more than the growing presence of a tacky outsourced up-seller expanding their unwarranted and unwanted presence in a theme park (photos from TS Facebook):

I was going to say, Alton's latest accommodation for next season?
Nope! Back then the rules were "if you used your shoes to make the 1.4m height restriction, you had to wear them onto the ride". As soon as they took their shoes off, you could re-measure them & refuse a ride if they were under 1.4m.I hope you told them they had no chance of getting away with that...
Back in the early 2000's it was a real bone of contention - girls could wear "Spice Girl" type wedge shoes to add a good few inches onto their height. I - as doubtless other ride hosts have - been offered money by parents of "too small" children to turn a blind eye and let them on the ride. You could not make it up!

Not a bad effort but my favourite is still the Original Source shower gel van bang outside the Wicker Man entrance just a few weeks after it opened.Nothing says 'escapism' more than the growing presence of a tacky outsourced up-seller expanding their unwarranted and unwanted presence in a theme park (photos from TS Facebook):

They could at least do out of the way marketing (like the milkshakes) or some fancy themed thing like the Fanta vr.This would literally not happen at any other decent park on Earth. The last thing I want from Towers is to make me feel like I'm being harassed on the high street.

Has anyone heard which theme park was most visited last year ? Looks like legoland is getting a slating about staff operations and offering. Oh how time changes as I thought that was the merlin jewel in their crown

Tussauds/Merlin are like the WHSmith of theme park operators; once loved but now just notable for being ubiquitous and deeply cynical.

I wonder if they always plan to close at 6, but advertise 5 so when they seemingly extend, it makes everyone who's visiting happier.
And then if the weather is rubbish and park is dead, they can close at 5 anyways and not lose out.
It’s not an unusual model, Europapark decide their closing time on the day based on crowd numbers and weather (obviously their closing is a lot later in general than towers), they announce closing time around midday.
So I was at the park yesterday and got to say one of the best times I've been in years. Hour extended, 23 rides on a relatively busy saturday. It was brilliant.
Im gonna however talk about the operations on oblivion which quite frankly were disgusting. 4 trains out of 7 and ONE station. With reduced throughout the queues were fairly big for it most of the day (compared normally to how quiet it is). Come on towers it's your highest capacity ride and you're wasting a very reliable and efficient ride by reducing capacity, making the queue just as big as other rides!

Ye it was stacking so didn't help with queues4 trains on 1 station on oblivion is still to many.
