I look forward to the day when Europa Park becomes a resort with a town landlocked in the middle.
You mean when the Mack's buy the entire town of rust and re-make it into an accomodation village? With the people of rust re-located to Ringsheim...
Twenty years tops, I reckon.
I'm amazed it's not happened yet tbh.
After spending the night, I have to say Kronasar is a beautiful hotel. The rooms are definitely the best of any of the hotels; they feel cosy and classy. The exterior is similarly pleasant.
One thing I did notice, which hasn’t really been spoken about is the themeing continuity. The exterior is obviously not obviously in keeping with the museum interior theme - this isn’t really an issue. What I found quite peculiar though, is that there seems to be a confused theme between internal areas.
The lobby, corridors and rooms stick to the museum theme successfully. It’s therefore quite jarring that the bar has a nautical/ski lodge theme, as too Bubba Sven’s restaurant. It might not be something a regular visitor could articulate, but the contrast doesn’t feel quite right.
Except for the view of Rulantica’s shed, which yes, you can definitely see from your room, and lack of a hotel pool, this internal themeing mish-mash seems like the only misstep of the hotel.
Who said you can't have nautical artefacts in a museum?
The hotel shuttle timetable has been altered to increase bus frequency now. Peak times are now every 10 minutes and off-peak every 20 minutes. I guess this is in response to the crowding and longer than ideal waits (especially in the winter cold).
The monorail can’t come soon enough, as Rulantica does feel quite off on a limb and driving a bendy bus around the residential streets of Rust isn’t an ideal long term solution.
The obvious interchange for the monorail is the existing hotel resort station, but I think the logistics of linking up here are tricky. There’s no room to extend onto the road and the height of the current monorail means it probably couldn’t cross the road, as there’s such little height clearance.
Whether a new monorail could arrive at a higher level is one option. Other than that there would need to be a second separate station which would ideally somehow be linked up. The obvious route has to be along the main road with a turn along the Elz River and then around to meet up with the existing hotel station before meeting back up with the main road.
Had a lovely one night stay in Krønasår last week and if it was not for the less than ideal location I think it would be my favourite of EP's hotels. It seems that more theming has been added around the hotel since it first opened, and there are also some new things on the walls of the rooms.
We did have a very poor experience in Bubba Svens (my food was lovely, others was not, but the overall service was terrible).
The bedrooms in Kronasar are beautiful, but I can’t help but feel that Bubba Svens’ high ceilings and open plan layout make it feel like a fancy school canteen.
Kronsar is still less than a year old yet the Macks are already turning their attention to a future 7th hotel which perhaps will be coming sooner than originally intended.
In a recent interview Thomas Mack confirmed the new next hotel would also have a Scandinavian theme.
Excellent, and not surprising. Hopefully the next hotel will have more bar capacity for the Rulantica resort area.
This is badly needed, both from a capacity and variety perspective. Whilst Bar Eriksson is perfectly pleasant, I found it to be the weakest of all the hotel bars - the fact that there are no other bars immediately available (unlike the other hotels) only compounds the issue.
It’s great to hear the hotel is a success though. It definitely makes sense to continue the Scandinavian motif; it will bind the hotels together like the Mediterranean theme does for the other hotels.
I’d assume that since the monorail extension sounds like a done deal, the new hotel will potentially integrate the station into its construction. Along with a proper link to the main park, another hotel will certainly bring more of a critical mass to this second resort area and probably make it more of an attractive proposition to guests. At the moment, it can feel a little isolated. Having more of a selection of bars and restaurants can only help dissipate that feeling.
Ah yes, I look forward to seeing Rust's roadways carved up into Venice style waterways.
Work is well underway for the expansion of Hotel Kronasar's facilities.
Has anyone heard much in the way of an update on the monorail planned between Kronasar and the main park?
Michael Mack suggested that Mack Rides were working on getting something sorted as quickly as possible, but I’ve not heard much more since. It would certainly make a stay at Kronasar a lot more attractive once it’s up and running.
Whilst it does have a lot of rooms, at the moment, Kronasar generally appears to have the best hotel availability, suggesting that it might be the least popular of the resorts. Perhaps because it feels quite disconnected from the main park.
I also don't think Rulantica got the reception they anticipated which could also be why the hotel is less popular than expected.
Just quoting this post from Jan this year. As they are planning the 7th hotel and got a 93% occupancy rate last summer in Kronosar, even before Rulantica opened I don’t think it’s particularly unpopular.
Perhaps the monorail will come with the 7th Hotel.
It's all about timescales. They will need to get approval from the authorities, which can take time, and also get a slot in Mack's busy schedule.
I can't see a monorail until the 7th hotel arrives in 3 or 4 years time.
I don't think the assertion that "Rulantica hasn't gone down as well as expected" has any evidence.

I suppose with the water park extension, he new VR thing and another bar and restaurant there will be more to do there. Then a few years time I guess we’ll get another new hotel, which will probably come with more facilities and things to do.
Save on a prohibitively expensive monorail, just clone the original park?
