I really have no desire to visit at the moment even with my MAP. The whole idea of certain closures, restrictions, constantly trying to social distance, masks does not appeal. Defeats the object of a fun day out.

hopefully if this all ends I may get a visit in before end of season, if not I will wait til next year.

The misinformation ride lineup, they’ve done many times but you seem to forget it’s the first day they’ve had a “live” run of these new changes that we or any business has had to adapt to.

You would of been a fool to think you’d be walking through a queue to a walk on Nemesis.

I went to the pub, it was a shambles and that was to just get a drink, again it was their first day their procedures went live.

Forget your damn coaster creds and stay away for a few weeks till hopefully/IF they fine tune procedures better. Even before ALL of this started on a good day - with how Towers is run, you’d be lucky to get on a handful of rides, now....Fool you paying that admission price.

I went on WM opening, never been again and that was before Covid implemented procedures.

If you go on a quiet day, mid week, it's great. Did that on multiple occasions last year and always had a good day
 
Good they’ve offered free returns but what about pass holders? At the moment as a pass holder you can’t just come back next day as you have to prebook.

Usually they’d throw Fastrack at people

Free fastrack isn’t an option at the minute obviously.

I presume they’ll just go down the line if you’re a pass holder and can come back another anyway (as you would’ve probably planned to anyway).

The best thing passholders can probably hope for at the minute is some discounted hand sanitiser haha

Simple, £1 accesso passport voucher, in effect not refunding the pre-book but allowing it to be used another day.

And do Towers check for the Accesso ticket? Thorpe has no interest and didn’t even ask to see or scan them.

My pass (monthly "premium") scanned, Alton checked pre-books for people who's passes didn't scan (not sure if they whitelisted passes when you entered the number).

Do I think it will happen? No
Could it: technically yes

Seems they fixed the capacity for the student package, it's no longer 30k.

There's no way for me to take into account hotel guests, the field labeled capacity in that pic is the combined capacity for day tickets,pass prebooks and student tickets so should be close.

Sorry to quote a post 8 pages back - Alton Towers actually had these way back in 2002, possibly earlier. They were removed and I never really understood why.

shops aren’t in near darkness though, I can see why Hex isn’t opening at the moment. But Duel should be able to open just fine, guests can be held outside if needed to reduce the number in the interior queue and I don’t think the guns are worth worrying about, just have sanitizer available on the way out.

Jesus people don’t think logically, Duel is one of the lower staffing heavy numbers if they where wanting rides to close for budget cuts then Duel isn’t the one.

I agree it’s an extreme interpretation with Duel and makes little sense, but when has Towers H&S been completely logical? They have always been hyper cautious to the point of stupidity.
 
It doesn't surprise me that Towers and Blackpool have different types of ride open. Businesses, especially essentially specialist operators such as amusement parks, have had to do a fair degree of their own interpretation of what exactly COVID-Safe means. It is curious however that business units within the same operator, with a common overseeing health and safety department, are coming up with different interpretations. For example, Nemesis and Inferno operating seating differently; Congo being open and Rumba closed; and Tomb Blaster open but Duel closed.

Towers' recent cost cutting history certainly doesn't inspire confidence that there isn't cost cutting going on. But at the same time, to be COVID-Safe I would expect them to be using more staff, whilst attendance and therefore income will be low. So perhaps cost cutting is the sensible approach to take at this current time? Given they've maintained an entertainments team, could this be a rare case of quality over quantity?
