It’s not an unevidenced estimate; it’s apparently based on the trial runs of non-socially distanced events that were conducted a few weeks ago. They were very successful, with no additional COVID cases, so the scientists at SAGE/SPI-M currently feel that it is safe to scrap the 1m+ rule after 21st June, provided nothing changes drastically between now and then.Just because a paper says something Matt, it doesn't mean it is true.
They have made a prediction, nothing more.
21st June is eight weeks away, things can change.
It’s also worth noting that The Times has been a reliable source for past “government leaks”, with many of their previously reported rumours proving to be true...
This only reflects the government’s current intentions, of course, but there’s apparently nothing in the data at the moment that would drastically change the course of the roadmap.
