How did they manage to bypass? I’m confused, why was a test link available in the first place??

I cancelled my MAP last year.
 
It seems like someone with slightly more technical knowledge than most found a way to access the portal and then shared the link across different pages
 
Hopefully that person gets a lifetime ban if that’s the case. They clearly knew what they were doing was wrong, but did it regardless.

If people can get banned for trying to trespass then I don’t see why bans shouldn’t include attempting to bypass electronically.

Agreed they should be banned
 
No one should be banned for accessing pages available to the public, that's frankly ridiculous. Merlin have had long enough and should have the experience within the group to handle the management of pass reservations. If someone finds a way to book prior to release time, and most importantly other pass holders with little to no technical knowledge can easily do the same through the means of a simple link, it's Merlin's fault - no one else's.

Exactly, now if it's publicly posted then a passholder seeing that link could have throught they released prebooks early for some reason (ala THORPE 12p tickets)
 
I was under the impression that someone ‘hacked’ into something they shouldn’t have.

If someone came across a link that was available to the public then obviously I wouldn’t wish for anyone to be banned if that’s the case.

I think we can probably move on from discussion about how people booked early now as this will just go on and on. The link was publicly available, someone found it, posted it and people went ahead and booked. There was nothing "illegal", there was no "hacking", it was a cock up on the park's/Merlin's end. You can discuss all day about whether deciding to book beforehand was morally right or wrong, but that's a matter of personal opinion that will have no effect on something that's already happened and now been stopped.

Lets get back to general Towers discussion, before we probably do this all again on Wednesday :tearsofjoy:
 
I think one thing looking in Towers favour is their events are usually end of season ( Sept - Nov) so they've managed to avoid cancelling the events outright. With the way management has been acting (how Oktober and Scarefests occurred last year) I can see them pushing for them to happen in some form, whereas if you asked me a year or so ago I'd have said they'd cancel everything and save some £
 
This is where Covid restrictions were a blessing in some respects. Having a lower capacity enforced on the park meant they had to think of ways of extracting more revenue from each individual guest. Fastrack is out the window in that regard, so the events were (finally) properly thought through and considered.

As awful as last year was, it's made the park realise that quality over quantity is far preferable than just getting bodies through the turnstiles.
 
Even if people weren't part of the events (didn't partake in the lawns activities or mazes) it really helped breathe some life into the park making it seem a lot busier than it was.
 
I’ve not read this for a while so imagine my suppose to read that Alton have some travelling funfair rides. While I’ve mixed feelings about this I guess anything that lowers queue times across the resort is a good thing.

However.... I’m not sure about placing these rides in amongst established themed ride areas, such as the one in forbidden valley. A traditional funfair on the front lawn might have worked, having a fun fair inside a theme park and could have been part of Octoberfest later in the year.

Anyway I’ll reserve judgement until I go up later this year. We can’t moan that they are at least trying to improve the situation with limited funds after the pandemic. And after all, Enterprise, Energiser, 1001 Nights, amongst others (even Corkscrew) were all rides which could be taken down and transported somewhere else yet were highly popular.
 
Where did the image of the new super trooper flat ride on Ripsaws site originally come from? How did they have access to the park. I'm assuming it was obviously a staff member that got excited and told a friend, resulting in now the whole community knowing
